German-Thoroughbred.com Sweet Solera Stakes Race Preview, Saturday 10th August 2013

The Sweet Solera Stakes which had it’s first race back in 1986 is named after 1,000 Guineas and Oaks winner Sweet Solera who done the double back in 1961 and is open to two year old thoroughbred fillies of which the best go on to compete in the May Hill Stakes and Fillies Mile.

Trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni has won this race for the last two years in succession but doesn’t have an entry this year due to his eight year ban by the British Horseracing Authority. Of the trainers who do have entries in this race Saeed bin Suroor will be looking for his third victory having won the race back in 2009 with Long Lashes and followed that up a year later in 2010 with White Moonstone. If his 2 year old Ihtimal wins on saturday afternoon, he will join trainer Barry Hills on having achieved three victories since the founding of the race back in 1986.

Trainer John Hills will be looking to follow in his father’s footsteps by securing his first victory in this race with his 2 year old Adhwaa and trainer Richard Hannon who won this race back in 2005 with Nasheej has will be hoping that either Midnite Angel or Baby Bush can land him his second victory in the race.

All of saturday’s entries have been in some kind of form of late and it is a very difficult race to be confident in predicting the winner of but below I have whittled down the ten entries to form a short list of who I think will be coming home in front on saturday afternoon and a small paragraph of their recent form and any early current prices available.

1. Ihtimal: Trained by Saeed bin Suroor and ridden by Silvestre De Sousa this 2 year old bay filly out of Shamardal and Eastern Joy has not managed to get her head in front yet over the line in three previous attempts but has run well enough in those races to suggest she can be involved in this race and provide trainer Saeed bin Suroor with his third victory in the race. :- Current Best Price 4/1 with Paddy Power – £50 Free Bets for New Customers

2. Adhwaa : Trained by John Hills and ridden by Paul Hanagan this 2 year old brown filly by Oasis Dream and Hammiya held on impressively to win the British Stallion Studs E.B.F. Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Doncaster back on July 18th and has all the credentials to provide John Hills his first victory in this race. :- Current Best Price 12/1 with Coral – £50 Free Bets for New Customers

3. Baby Bush : Trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Richard Hughes this 2 year old bay filly out of Holy Roman Emperor and Mainstream Opinion has only seen a race course once in her life and made no mistake coming home in front by 2 lenghts to win the Denford Stud Irish E.B.F. Maiden Fillies’ Stakes back on July 4th at Newbury. :- Current Best Price 7/1 with Bet365 – £200 Free Bets for New Customers

German-Thoroughbred.com Sweet Solera Stakes Race Tips, Predictions & Naps.

This is a extremely tough as all of ten have at least some chance of winning on saturday afternoon. However, looking back at the history of this race we do see that it pays to follow trainers like Saeed bin Suroor and Richard Hannon who have a good record, but I am going to take a chance on John Hills to win his first Sweet Solera Stakes with Adhwaa and Richard Hannon to go close with Baby Bush.
