Coral Free BetsThe 2014 Masters Tournament begins on Thursday morning from Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. Australian Adam Scott is the current defending champion and made history in this event last year by becoming the very first Australian Golfer to secure the famous Green Jacket.

2014 The Masters Preview

The main news surrounding this tournament this year is that Tiger Woods will not be attending due to health problems and although this a major blow to spectators and his sponsors Nike, it does leave the field wide open which makes for a much more exciting four days of golf.

Adam Scott became the first Australian golfer to wear the famous green jacket by winning last years tournament after a sudden death play-off against Angel Cabrera and not only was it his first major championship, it was also the first time a golfer had won the prestigious title by using a ‘belly putter’ which as you can imagine caused a large number of controversy.

This years tournament also has Adam Scott listed as one of the hot favourites to do well again along with Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson and Jason Day and you can view all of our short listed players that we think will do well in our Main Contenders snippet below.

The Main Contenders

1. Jason Day :- An emerging superstar of golf and a player that is destined for great things in the future based on what we have already seen from the young 27 year old Australian. Is strongly fancied to go close in this years tournament and having had a fantastic season already having won both the ISPS HANDA World Cup of Golf and the Accenture Match Play Championship his confidence will be sky high and for me looks great value at his current odds of around 18/1.

2. Adam Scott :- Current defending Champion of this tournament having won it last year in a sudden death play off against Angel Cabrera and having a great season so far having secured a top ten finish in the five of the seven tournaments he has competed in and will have a lot of support at his current odds of around 12/1.

3. Rory McIlroy :- Had a complete nightmare of a season last year trying to get used to his new Nike clubs, but did finish on a high winning in Australia and does seem to be coming back to his best. However, he will need to put memories of what happened to him at Augusta back in 2011 to one side if he is to be up there with a chance on the final day and his current odds of around 12/1 will obviously see plenty of interest from the punters.

4. Bubba Watson :- Won this tournament back in 2012 and won the North Trust Open back in February this year with an impressive -15, is currently ranked 5th in the FEDEX Cup Rankings and with his powerful long drives he certainly has a big chance this year and looks great value at his current odds of around 28/1.

Others to Consider

1. Phil Mickelson :- Has won this tournament on three seperate occasions and is very much a fans favourite round this course. However, his form this season has not been great and having pulled an oblique muscle at the Valero Open in Texas his health is far from 100% and does look a bit short at odds of around 14/1.

2. Angel Cabrera :- Was beaten in a play-off last year and is a previous winner of the tournament when lifting the trophy back in 2009. His season so far leaves a lot to be desired, but he does know his way round this course and on the basis of what happened last year is a lively outsider at huge odds of 66/1.

3. Dustin Johnson : Won the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions back in March last year and then had two decent second places in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and Northern Trust Open this year. Is currently ranked 3rd in the FEDEX Cup and is putting a lot better than he has done in years. Big chance at his current odds of around 28/1.

2014 The Masters Betting Tips, Overview & Predictions

Adam Scott will probably be everyone’s favourite to retain his title, but although I think he could be up there on sunday afternoon, I don’t think he is going to win the tournament.

Jason Day however has a great chance, I have been extremely impressed with his statistics this season and this guy is certainly going to be a major golf superstar in the future and for me he looks the one to be on here to win his first ever Masters Tournament.

Bubba Watson won this tournament back in 2012 and is coming into this event having won the Northern Trust Open back in February so his confidence will be high and with a monster drive in his arsenal of weapons, he looks a cracking each/way shout.

Those looking for a lively outsider need look no further than the veteran Angel Cabrera as although he has done very little this season, he does know this course like the back of his hand and as a previous winner in 2009 and runner up last year, it would not shock me in the slightest to see him up there in the mix come the final day.
