Australian Grand Prix Preview, Sunday 20th March 2016.

The season starts back in Melbourne at Albert Park, this circuit is a firm favorite with the fans and drivers since replacing Adelaide in 1996, and last year they signed an extension to their contract so that the race will remain there until 2023. Australia sees the start of the longest ever formula 1 season with 21 races, of which 6 will have back to back races. There is also a new team to watch Haas F1 Team, they are the first American led team since 1986, Romain Grosjean and Esteban Gutierrez are their drivers both of which are very experienced in formula 1.

This formula 1 season sees some changes to last year, stating with the changes in qualifying where the slowest driver is eliminated after 90 secs, half way through each of the sessions, but after qualification had finished in Melbourne many people have heavily criticized how bad this change was and they are already looking at changing it back to the original format before the next race in Bahrain.

Lewis Hamilton will start the defense of his world championship title by coming out on top with his 50th formula 1 career pole, he joins an elite club by being only the 3rd man in history to reach this number, the others are Michael Schumacher and Lewis’s idol Ayrton Sienna. Lewis was only 3 tenths quicker than teammate Nico Rosberg which sees the team in the front row. Third was Sebastian Vettel only 8 tenths slower then Hamilton, with Kimi Raikkonen in forth.

Australian Grand Prix Previous Winners

This race has seen many different winners in previous years, i can see a Mercedes driver coming out of tomorrow race as the winner but can Lewis Hamilton be first driver to win in Australia for 2 years running, since Jenson Button did in 2009 and 2010, or will it be Nico Rosberg who could win it for his second time.

2015 – Lewis Hamilton Mercedes
2014 – Nico Rosberg Mercedes
2013 – Kimi Raikkonen Lotus – Renault
2012 – Jenson Button McLaren – Mercedes
2011 – Sebastian Vettel Red Bull – Renault

Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix Race Predictions, Tips & Winner Bets.

This race on Sunday will start the longest formula 1 season ever known, and is shown on Sky Sports dedicated F1 HD channel, but you will need to be up very early for this one.

Can Lewis Hamilton in the defense of his world championship, go for his 3rd win at this circuit and equal the number of wins by Jenson Button and be just 1 less than Michael Schumacher, or will the rivalry with his teammate Nico Rosberg stop him. It could also be the Ferrari boys that could give the Mercedes a run for their money, with the many changes they have made to their car this season.

It will also be interesting to see how last years rookie of the year Max Verstappen of Toro Rosso will do as he starts in 5th, being only 1 and a half seconds behind Hamilton in qualifying. He made a great start last season in his first year in formula 1 by getting almost 75% of the points total for the team. There is even talk of him being at Mercedes or Ferrari for the 2017 season.

My predictions for this Sunday’s race are that Lewis Hamilton will win, but with the odds being really poor lets spice things up by saying that Nico Rosberg will have a great start and will be the leader after the first lap. For my second prediction I think that the improvements to the speed of the McLaren will bring them more consistently into the points finish this season. So for this I hope their reliability issues are over and we start to see the McLaren cars back to their former best.
