European Grand Prix Preview, Sunday 19th June 2016.

The next round takes us to a new street circuit in Baku, Azerbaijan, this will be the first time Formula 1 has been here. This circuit is a 6km track that goes around many of the city’s most famous sites. During qualifying there were many cars going off the track, and crashes making qualifying interesting. Lewis Hamilton will be starting in tenth in Sunday’s Grand Prix as he caused damage to his car, so qualifying three was red flagged with just over two minutes until the end of the session. So when qualifying got started again Nico Rosberg didn’t go out, he had already set a very good time, and he managed to keep pole. Sergio Perez had a fantastic qualifying session he managed to set the second quickest time, but unfortunately due to a crash in practice three sees him gain a five place grid penalty as he had to change his gearbox, so he shall be starting in seventh. With Daniel Ricciardo taking third on the grid from Sebastian Vettel.

The European Grand Prix was introduced in the mid 1980’s and was held regularly from 1999 until 2012, the race was removed in 2013 until this year. Previous venues for this race are the famous Nurburgring in German, and the street circuit in Valencia, Spain.

European Grand Prix Previous Winners.

Due to this being the first time that Formula 1 has been to Baku, there is no previous winners here, but as the race is a standalone event it has been at many venues over the years, but the last time this race took place it was in Valencia in 2012.

2012 Fernando Alonso Ferrari Valencia
2011 Sebastian Vettel Red-Bull Renault Valencia
2010 Sebastian Vettel Red-Bull Renault Valencia
2009 Rubens Barrichello Brawn -Mercedes Valencia
2008 Felipe Massa Ferrari Valencia

Formula 1 European Grand Prix Race Predictions, Tips & Winner Bets.

As this is a new track in Formula 1, i think the race on Sunday Afternoon will be full of incidents, bringing out the safety car and the virtual safety car on more than one occasion. This was also the case in the support race in GP2 where out of the 22 cars that started the race only 10 managed to finish the race. So if this happens in Formula 1, then those teams further down the grid maybe able to score some points if they are able to keep out of trouble.

With Lewis Hamilton starting in the middle of the grid, it will be interesting to see if he can get it together and keep out of the way of any trouble, whereas his teammate Nico Rosberg, will need to have a great start, as the Mercedes have great straight line speed, this circuit will suit them. The Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel made a great start in the last race, where he had taken the lead in the first lap in Canada, so i am sure he will wish to do the same again and make things hard for those behind him.

So with this circuit looking to be eventful, i think that my Banker will be for Nico Rosberg to complete the hat-trick as he has already gained pole, I think he will make a great start and continue on to win the race and achieve the fastest lap.

With thoughts that the safety car will be making many appearances in Sunday’s race, i think that if Sergio Perez who starts in seventh can stay out of the way at the start of the race he will be able to finish in the top six.
