Chinese Grand Prix Preview, Sunday 17th April 2016.

Round three takes us to Shanghai International Circuit in China, where formula 1 has been coming here since 2004. They have been unable to come an new agreement with qualifying so it was reverted back to last years procedure from this race onwards. Fernando Alonso returns to racing after being given the all clear.

Lewis Hamilton will be starting in last place after not setting a time in the first qualifying round, this was due to having problems with his power unit so now this will have to be changed. Hamilton would only been able to start as high as sixth if he was able to get pole position as he was already given a 5 place grid penalty for changing his gear box before making the mandatory six races.

Nico Rosberg was able to get his first pole position of the new season with a half a second lead on the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo who was surprised by his own performance to be up on the front row. Making up the second row will be the two Ferrari’s with Kimi Raikkonen being three tenths faster than his teamate Sebastian Vettel, this is the first time this season that the Finnish driver has out qualified his teammate.

Since coming here since 2004 the constructor with the most wins is Ferrari with four wins, however in the last six years, five of these wins have been by a Mercedes Powered Engine. The Driver with the Most wins here is Lewis Hamilton with four .

2014 – Lewis Hamilton Mercedes

Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix Race Predictions, Tips & Winner Bets.

I think that this will be a very exciting race to watch, I believe that Hamilton will produce a great comeback, starting last I think he will be able to make it onto the podium position especially as he has a new power unit and gearbox. The race can be seen live on Sky Sports F1 channel and of course in all its HD glory!

The two front grids look exciting with Red Bull putting in a solid performance on Saturday during the qualifying which see’s Daniel Ricciardo start in second position. Of course with Nico Rosberg starting in pole position once again he certainly is the favourite to win this race, but that doesn’t mean the Ferrari’s wont put up a good fight and cause the German some issues.

Depending on Rosberg’s start we could see the Ferrari’s surprise Mercedes especially as Lewis isn’t going to be anywhere near to help defend his team mate. Not that I am sure Hamilton would as he personally would be looking to fight for the lead himself and the expense of Nico. We know Ricciardo is a talented driver and with Red Bull car in second being a huge surprise to the team and the drivers I am unsure what to expect here.

My predictions for Sundays race would of course usually back Lewis or Nico to win but with the odds on Nico being terrible, and the likely hood of Lewis winning the race having started at the back of the grid that kind of puts that selection out of play. That said I do for some reason see Lewis potentially coming through the pack and into a podium position which is going to be my second selection for this race. My banker bet however is to back the winning driver to have exactly 5 to 10 seconds gap margin between them and second place.
