Spanish Grand Prix Preview, Sunday 15th May 2016.

This weekend’s race is from Barcelona’s circuit de Catalunya, where Formula 1 has been coming here for many, many years, usually this track is the start of the European season, but not this year the honor was given to Russia. All drivers are very familiar with this track as they all have driven here during winter testing.

There has been changes in personnel in the Red Bull team since the Russian Grand Prix, so taking the place of Daniil Kvyat is Max Verstappen, the eighteen year old moves from Torro Rosso after less than eighteen months into his Formula 1 career, during qualifying he made a fantastic start to his debut in the Red Bull car, and will be starting the race on the second row in forth, only four tenths of a second behind his team mate Daniel Ricciardo, who lock out the second row in front of the two Ferrari’s. The Mercedes are both in the front row with Lewis Hamilton taking his 52nd pole beating Nico Rosberg by nearly three tenths of a second.

Spanish Grand Prix Previous Winners.

There have been many winners at this circuit over the years, Nico Rosberg will be wanting to make it two wins in a row and continue on with his winning streak. Lewis Hamilton will be want to make it two wins here too, but he will need to put all his troubles behind him and make a good start so that his teammate doesn’t continue to build the point gap currently in place.

2015 – Nico Rosberg Mercedes
2014 – Lewis Hamilton Mercedes
2013 – Fernando Alonso Ferrari
2012 – Pastor Maldonado Williams – Renault
2011 – Sebastian Vettel Red Bull – Renault

Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix Race Predictions, Tips & Winner Bets.

I think this race will be interesting at the start, Lewis Hamilton will be hoping for a clean getaway which he says he has been practicing, and try to stay in front of his teammate Nico Rosberg who will be wanting to get in front of him and increase his lead in the championship. Behind them will be an interesting battle between the Red Bull teammates, and following close behind them will be the two Ferrari’s of Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel.

It will be good to see how Max Verstappen will do making his debut in the Red Bull car, as he did so well in qualifying and the practice rounds. It will he interesting to see if he is able to finish in front of Daniel Ricciardo. With Felipe Massa not being able to make it out of qualifying 1 and starting back in eighteenth on the grid, he will be hoping that he can make it through the pack and join his teammate who was able to qualify in seventh. The Red Bull boys are in front of them on the grid as well as in the championship and the Williams team will want to be as close to the Red Bulls as possible so they can get as many points as they can.

My predictions for Sunday’s race are that Lewis Hamilton will make it his first win in seven races, stopping Nico Rosberg’s winning streak. However as the odds are not the greatest, my banker will be for Sebastian Vettel to finish in the top three and putting the disappointment of the race in Russia behind him. With McLaren making it into the qualifying 3 for the first time since reuniting with Honda, I believe that with the upgrades made on their cars there is an opportunity for both drivers to make it a points finish.
