Liverpool v Leicester City Preview, Premiership, Saturday 10th September 2016.

Saturday evening kicks off with the champions paying visit to Liverpool at Anfield, with a lot of expectations on the club who somehow managed to beat all of Englands best to top the table. This will be Liverpool’s first home game of the season with them so far playing four competitive matches on the trot. With the exception of Burnley they haven’t had bad results although really should of had three wins.

The 2 – 0 loss to Burnley would of been hard to stomach especially as they had beaten Arsenal at The Emirates the week before in a 4 – 3 thriller! Next was the League Cup where the club traveled to Burton Albion and came away with a 5 – 0 expected victory. Before the international break they did take the lead against Tottenham Hotspurs although allowed left back Danny Rose to equalize with twenty minutes left to play.

Leicester City haven’t had the start they were hoping for with a loss to Manchester United in the Community Shield and then away from home to newly promoted side Hull City. It was that game that had already started the questions of what if it was just luck that they won the league, and would things now return back to normal with Leicester City set to be a mid table side.

The Champions however soon started to play better and although hadn’t still managed a win they did draw at home to Arsenal which was as expected a very tough game. It was before the international break however that Leicester City managed to grab their first win, with that coming at the expense of Welsh side Swansea City at home.

Liverpool Team News:

Sadly for Liverpool they will be without midfielder Emre Can as well as Ragnar Klavan with both still not fit to play. Emre Can has been nursing an ankle injury since the win over Burton Albion in the League Cup, while Klavan came back from the international break with a beaten up knee.

Leicester City Team News:

Leicester City will be glad to see the return of goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel after his return from a hernia operation. The stopper missed Denmarks win over Armenia recently after being substituted in the 2 – 1 win over Swansea City in August. Jeff Schlupp is very unlikely to play while Nampalys Mendy is still missing due to an ankle issue.

Liverpool v Leicester City Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head encounters it is Liverpool who come out on top with two wins, two draws and the more recent loss last season. In total we have 84 games recorded between the two clubs with Liverpool only slightly out in front with 33 wins. They have also lost on 31 occasions while drawing 20.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 84 games played out we have seen a total of 247 goals scored. This is going to give us a goals per game average of 2.9, which when looking at the above table does seem to be hit and miss depending on how the two sides play on the day. So I feel going for the below option this Saturday could be a good one.

Champions Leicester City have so far been rather disappointing with them only just winning their first game of the season. Where as Liverpool have also been hit and miss they did manage a win over Arsenal and draw against Tottenham Hotspurs before the international break.

Liverpool v Leicester City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

It’s back to Premier League action this Saturday after a very tension filled weekend with the home nations doing their best to start the World Cup Qualifiers best they can. This Saturday evenings kickoff will see the Champions Leicester City travel to Liverpool in hopes of continuing on from their win against Swansea City.

Although Liverpool are the favourites to win this match you can never just dismiss the chances Leicester City will undoubtedly make with the likes of Jamie Vardy up front and Mahrez on the wing. Leicester City do have a very good solid defense yet will need to play at their best to keep out this very unpredictable Liverpool side.

Talking about Liverpool’s inability to stay consistent I am sure they themselves and manager Jurgen Klopp will wish to work on their ability to win many games on the trot. Both sides are currently sitting mid table and although yes it is early days, I am sure both will be wanted to be up there all throughout this seasons campaign.

My predictions for Saturday evenings kick off does lean more towards the Liverpool win yet I am also fearful that the game could end up any possible result. So I for one plan to take both teams to score on the night and for the game to end as a draw of some sort. The next I am going for is a correct score of Liverpool to win the game 1 – 0. I just feel this game we will see both clubs cancel each other out and then a single goal either way to win it.
