Germany v Norway Preview, Women’s 2013 European Championship Final, Sunday 28th July 2013

Germany have just started to find their form which is shocking considering they are now about to play in the UEFA Women’s EURO Championships Final come Sunday and what better way to do it with knocking out competition favorites and hosts Sweden 1 goal to nil in the Semi-Finals on Wednesday evening.

With mentioning the loss of important injured players on every chance we had you can now see the depth this German side has when it comes down to quality and talent. Although influential defender Saskia Bartusiak believes her team mates have an incredible spirit which has seen them progress so far and into Sunday’s final against Norway who they have already suffered a shock defeat to.

Norway must of been worried having to face Denmark’s penalty saving hero Stina Petersen when the game ended 1 – 1 after extra time, with the girl saving penalties for fun so far with 2 of them coming in the first game against hosts Sweden. This time however the hero wore a different colour jersey between the sticks and goes by the name of Ingrid Hjelmseth who was feeling surreal after saving the first 2 of Denmark’s penalties on the night!

On the night Norway took it hard conceding in the last 3 minutes of normal time with having held the lead from very early in the game. Tears of happiness were had for Norway and plenty of tears for Denmark as they were left devastated after working so hard to fight and get back into the game so late on.

Germany v Norway Team News

Germany Team News:

Its taken only 5 games so far during this competition to now finally see the Germans come into some form after beating tournament favorites Sweden with a gritty win seen live on Wednesday night in the Semi-Final. With peaking now they are in the final they have surely now taken over as tournament favorites now they have knocked the Swedes out, but then again Norway have already beaten Germany in the group stage so could they do it again on Sunday which could potentially stop Germany from winning their 6th straight EURO Final win in a row, with it also potentially being their 8th EURO Final win? Who knows, but something that has been noted is the German team are not going to roll over without a fight as their team spirit has to be commended.

Norway Team News:

Norway played their socks off on Thursday night although personally I felt it would of been an easier game for them as Denmark haven’t exactly looked dangerous and only qualified through the few 3rd place spots and even then only finished the group with a total of 2 points. But with that said Norway fully deserved their win and with goalkeeper Ingrid Hjelmseth now full of confidence after impressive saves during the 90 minutes and then of course her penalty saves which left Denmark in a state of shock as she personally was held responsible for destroying their now lack of confidence. Norway haven’t exactly been banging in the goals during this competition, but the ones that are going in seem to be very important as they have defended very professionally only conceding 3 goals so far.

Who Has The Advantage?

Sunday’s final promises to be a cracker with Norway already beating the Germans which ended their incredible unbeaten run, and with Germany dominating women’s football for the last 20 years you would have to say they have the advantage here even though they have already lost to Norway in the last 2 weeks. No longer can we use the excuse of Germany missing very important first team players due to injury, as this current squad have been incredible to get so far and recently beating hosts and tournament favorites Sweden.

Average Goals Per Game?

The 36 previous meetings have seen a total of 110 goals scored which provides us with an average goals per game statistic of 3.05 so hopefully we will see an explosive final full of goals come Sunday afternoon!

Norway’s form is slightly more impressive than the Germans with also Germany’s loss coming to the hands of Norway themselves in this competition last week.

Germany v Norway Match Betting Odds Market.

Germany have been made the favorites for winning the final by online bookmakers with a best price available of just 4/7 with Bet365 – £200 Free Bets For New Customers Registering an Account.

The Draw could be an option here with both teams scoring so few goals, and with Norway already beating Germany it could well be a safe bet with best odds of 3/1 with Skybet – £10 Free Bets No Deposit For New Customers Registering an Account.

Norway may not be the favorites to win this match but having beaten Germany already I am a little shocked with such high odds given by the bookmakers here with the best coming in at 9/2 with BetVictor (£25 Free Bets for New Customers) But with Germany now finally hitting form could Norway really pull off another shock and unexpected win over the dominant Germans?

Germany v Norway Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

So which one to go for eh? Well to be honest I cannot see Norway pull off another win over Germany so soon, although Germany could be slightly wary due to their last meeting. But with that said I still think this will go Germany’s way and I strongly believe there will be only one or 2 goals in this game.

So my two bets will go on Germany to win 1 – 0, and I think if Norway do have a chance it will come as a low scoring 1 – 1 draw.
