Denmark v Finland Preview, Women’s 2013 European Championship, Tuesday 16th July 2013

Denmark head into this game having only managed to secure one point so far from their opening two games and will be fully aware that after their 2-1 defeat against Italy last time out, this is a must win game on Tuesday night if they are to stand any real chance of staying in this tournament.

Finland are in exactly the same position as their opponents having also managed to secure just one point from their opening two games and having been completely destroyed by Sweden 5-0 the confidence of the side will be at an all time low and coach Andree Jeglertz has a huge job on his hands to get his players up for this one.

Denmark v Finland Team News

Denmark Team News:

No fresh injury problems or suspensions for coach Kenneth Heiner-Møller to contend with, so expect to see the same starting eleven that lost 2-1 against Italy on Saturday evening. Denmark’s key players Sanne Troelsgaard, Johanna Rasmussen and Pernille Harder really have to step up now if their side are to remain in this competition.

Finland Team News:

Coach Andree Jeglertz also have no fresh injuries or suspensions, but could make a few changes having seen his side thumped 5-0 by Sweden on Saturday evening. Katri Nokso-Koivisto and Sanna Talonen are the main key players for this Finland side and all eyes will be on them to produce something from this game and keep their hopes alive of remaining in this tournament.

Denmark v Finland Recent Form

Finland: D L D D L

Neither side has been at their best so far during this tournament, but Denmark have won two of their last five games compared to Finland who have won none of their last five.

Denmark v Finland Match Betting Odds Market.

Denmark are the stronger side here, so no surprise to see the online bookmakers having them priced up as the clear favorites at a best price of 4/11 with Ladbrokes (£50 Free Bets for New Customers) and with nothing but a victory going to be enough to keep them in this tournament these odds look about right.

The Draw doesn’t look a likely outcome here as both sides will be desperate to win this game to stay in the competition, so the current best price of 4/1 with Sky Bet (£10 Free Bets No Deposit Required for New Customers) doesn’t look likely to attract much interest I would imagine.

Finland were completely destroyed against Sweden last time out and it’s difficult to see any of the players really being up for this game, so their current best price of 10/1 with Bet365 (£200 Free Bets for New Customers) also looks about right given their history against Denmark over the years.

Denmark v Finland Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

A must win game for both side’s so I am expecting a very open and attacking game for the most parts. Denmark will be extremely disappointed having lost against Italy last time out having dominated most of the possession and with them on the brink of elimination from this tournament, I really can’t see them messing this one up.

Finland had a fantastic 0-0 draw in their opening game against Italy, a result that shocked a lot of people, but their 5-0 destruction by Sweden in the next game unfortunately showed that this side has a lot of work to do before they can have any real chance of making the latter stages of a major tournament.

A very easy decision for me as Denmark should win this comfortably enough on the night, however the online bookmakers also seem to agree and the current price for a Denmark victory is a bit short, so the goals market could be the place to concentrate on here.
