Chelsea v Arsenal Preview, FA Cup Final, Saturday 27th May 2017.

Saturdays FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium is certainly going to be a spectacle when Chelsea and Arsenal meet as there is plenty up for grabs with Chelsea looking to complete the double, and then Arsenal wanting to at least win some silverware having now missed out on the Champions League competition. In my eyes I do feel Chelsea are the favourites with them having an exceptional season, far better than the previous year.

Chelsea as we know finished top of the Premier League and won back their crown after a disappointing season last time round. Its back into the Champions League for them having missed out last season by a mile or two, and with the manager they have who knows if they can eventually go on to win the competition next year. Especially if they continue building on the squad they have during this summers transfer window.

Arsenal will be hoping to win this final come Saturday which could turn around a very disappointing season for them, with them finishing in fifth place and only qualifying for the Europa League competition, and now missing out on the Champions League for the first time in some time. Instead they get to watch their bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspurs play against the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona with Spurs themselves finishing second place.

Arsenal much like Chelsea did finish the season on a high with both sides winning all of their last five games in all competitions. The clubs last loss was away from home to bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspurs, but have since then gone on to stop the likes of Manchester United finishing in a Champions League position, although that now means nothing with United winning the Europa League competition and grabbing Champions League football that way.

Chelsea Team News:

Chelsea are actually injury free coming into this FA Cup final on Saturday. The only change could be midfielder Nemanja Matic coming in to replace Cesc Fabregas. Apart from that there is very little to report from the Chelsea dressing room.

Arsenal Team News:

Arsenal are hoping that Alexis Sanchez can shake off a thigh injury in time for Saturdays FA Cup clash with him limping off in their previous game against Everton. We may also see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain make a return against Chelsea with the attacking midfielder being out with a hamstring injury.

Defenders Gabriel (knee) and Koscielny (suspended) are not available however with Per Mertesacker potentially making his first start in almost 13 months. Also possibly missing are Kieran Gibbs (thigh) and Shkodran Mustafi with an illness.

Chelsea v Arsenal Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head encounters it is Chelsea who just come out in front with three wins and two loses. In total though they have played on 167 occasions with Arsenal winning a total of 63. Chelsea on the other hand have won 56 and then drawing the remaining 48. It could go either way on Saturday in the final, yet for me I do believe Chelsea will steal the win and make it a double having already won the Premier League.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 167 games played out we have seen a total of 448 goals scored. This is going to give us a goals per game average of 2.7 which as we can see in the last two games is a certain winner. Could the game on Saturday be all cagey though with neither side looking to concede? Who knows but I for one will go for the below selection come the final.

Chelsea v Arsenal Recent Form All Competitions (Left to Right)

Chelsea: W W W W W

Arsenal: W W W W W

Both clubs have won all five of their last games in all competitions, the game before that however did see Chelsea win, whereas Arsenal lost away from home to bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur which in turn see the club miss out of Champions League football for next season. Chelsea are the better side in form having won the Premiership, with them now looking to do the double once again.

Chelsea v Arsenal Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

FA Cup action this Saturday can be seen live on BBC 1 and BT Sports 2 with both channels offering a high definition option. Both clubs have done exceptionally well to get this far with Chelsea recently putting out Tottenham Hotspurs, and Manchester United losing to Arsenal to fail to retain what they managed to win last season. Chelsea themselves are looking to make it a double, where as Arsenal just want it to make up for a poor season.

Chelsea as predicted are the solid favourites to win this game against Arsenal, but then that does of course depend on their attitude on the day and if Arsenal want to turn up and play good football. The win could very well go either way here on Saturday as both teams are exceptional if playing well. The pressure is on Arsenal I’d say as they themselves have so far had a very bad season having failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Chelsea however are back in the Champions League after such a disastrous season previously under Jose Mourinho and at one point people were starting to worry that they may even get relegated! Shocking I know, but in the remaining games of the season they did manage to put a few wins in and eventually finished in a better position, although did fail to get into the Europa or Champions League.

My predictions for this game does see at least a couple of goals scored and if I am feeling brave I do see Chelsea coming out on top to complete the double this season. So my banker will be for both sides to score and for Chelsea to win the game. The other prediction I am going to go for is for Arsenal to take the lead on the night, but for Chelsea to fight back and eventually win the game breaking even more Arsenal fans hearts.
