QPR v Wolves Preview, Championship, 1st December 2016.

Championship action this Thursday brings us two teams who are currently struggling for much needed wins. The home side Queens Park Rangers are a shadow of their former selves with them currently sitting in fifteenth position in the table, just five points off of the relegation drop zone. We really should come to expect a side like this to be fighting for promotion yet they are by far the team we have seen in previous years.

Queens Park Rangers have the opportunity to win four of their next five fixtures in the Championships with Aston Villa and Derby County only just above them. They will no doubt be the likely losers when they get to face Brighton & Hove Albion away from home the day after Boxing Day although stranger things have happened in this tough and challenging league.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are another side who I am shocked by. They are usually a tough side to compete against yet this season cant seem to put two wins together and now seem to be struggling on joint points with twenty second placed Wigan Athletic who themselves sit in the relegation three. The clubs last win was at home against Brentford back in September and have since then lost six and drawn three.

Wolves face an easier task up until Boxing Day with all five teams more than beatable. They will however need to start picking up points and even possibly do against what the odds suggest and actually win on Thursday. All of these opponents are within five points of the club and if they did manage an incredible five wins then we could see them rise up to at least above mid table.

QPR Team News :

We see the return of midfielder Massimo Luongo against Wolves with the player suffering an illness previously. There are still issues with Steven Caulker as he recovers from a hip injury while Jack Robinson could return from a hamstring issue.

Wolves Team News :

Returning from a suspension is defender Danny Batth after missing out in the loss to Sheffield Wednesday recently. Michal Zyro and Jordan Graham are out with knee injuries while defender Mike Williamson’s continues to recover from a glute muscle injury.

QPR v Wolves Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five fixtures played against each other it is both teams who share the spoils with two wins each and the more recent draw at the beginning of this year. In total they have met on 38 occasions with Wolverhampton Wanderers winning 14 and losing just 10, leaving 14 games ending as draws of some kind.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the thirty eight games played we have seen a total of 106 goals scored. This is going to give us a goals per game average of 2.8 and as we can see above there is usually plenty of goals scored when these two meet. I feel going for the below selection for Thursdays game could be a solid option.

QPR v Wolves Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Championship action this week starts Thursday evening with Queens Park Rangers playing hosts to Midlands side Wolverhampton Wanderers and with both sides struggling to produce wins I am wondering which way the victory will go. Obviously home side QPR are the slight favourites with them having the advantage and they are also the only team to have won a game in the last five league fixtures played.

Wolverhampton Wanderers haven’t won a game since late in September and have since gone on to lose six and draw three in the last nine. This is of course the reason why the club are sitting just inches away from the relegation zone with Wigan Athletic below them on joint points but with the worse off goal difference. A win this weekend isn’t out of the question and will be a welcomed sight even though they will not jump up too high in the table.

Queens Park Rangers may of beaten Norwich City recently but did then go and lose away from home to Ipswich Town. In the clubs last ten league fixtures they have only won the three games while drawing four. The three loses have all come in the last five fixtures and will no doubt be results the club wish to put behind them. A win on Thursday could see QPR rise up to tenth although that does depend on other sides results come the weekend.

My prediction for this game does back that of Queens Park Rangers to win in some form or another. But I do also see there being a few goals scored, so for this I will go for both to score and for the home side to win come the end of the game. My next one will be for a correct score guess of a 1 – 1 draw after the ninety minutes.
