MK Dons v Chelsea Preview, FA Cup 4th Round, Sunday 31st January 2016.

This Sunday brings some excitement with MK Dons welcoming Premiership Champions Chelsea to Milton Keynes in a bid to overturn another top team much like they did against Manchester United last season in the Capital One Cup. It doesn’t help with them losing in the Championship last Saturday when they lost 3 – 1 against bottom of the league Bolton Wanderers which now leaves the club just one point outside the relegation zone. The clubs next four league games will be extremely tough with the exception of the last game at home against Bristol City, yet even then these two clubs will no doubt be battling it out later come the end of the campaign. Cardiff City and Derby County away from home and also a visit from Middlesbrough who will no doubt be looking for three points as they push for promotion.

Chelsea have started to turn their season around it seems with them beating Arsenal 1 – 0 away from home last Sunday. It didn’t help with Arsenal defender Mertesacker being sent off in the eighteenth minute when he was the last man and bought down Diego Costa. Don’t get me wrong Costa did make the most of it but it was clearly a sending off and within the laws of the game. Chelsea next face Watford away from home before then welcoming Manchester and Newcastle United to The Bridge in hopes of winning all nine points on offer. The clubs fifth game see’s the start of the Champions League knockout stages when Chelsea travel to France to face PSG for the first leg. The second leg comes later on the 9th of March in which Chelsea will no doubt be the favourites regardless of the clubs season long poor form.

MK Dons Team News:

MK Dons have a number of injuries which isn’t dampening the players spirits as they ready themselves for this tough battle. Carl Baker is missing with an ankle issue while striker Nicky Maynard is a major doubt due to his hamstring. Defender Matthew Upson is also out with a hamstring strain and Ben Reeves also injured with his thigh. George Baldock returned to the club after a loan spell at Oxford, yet cannot play due to being cup-tied.

Chelsea Team News:

We’re hearing reports Belgian international Eden Hazard could make his first start in four weeks due to an injury he picked up against Crystal Palace. Diego Costa was a doubt although has been declared fit for action, although fellow strike Loic Remy is likely unavailable due to a calf strain. Radamel Falcao is still missing and I doubt the powers that are will be able to sign apparent new signings Pato and Miazga in time.

MK Dons v Chelsea Head to Head Statistics:

Sadly we do not have any history of these two clubs meeting with the first set to be played at the Milton Keynes Stadium. Premiership Champions Chelsea are obviously set as the bookmakers favourites to win the game, especially when the Dons seem to be struggling close to the bottom of the Championship. Yet that could all mean nothing as the FA Cup fever often makes the lesser teams so much better.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

With the two sides yet to feature against each other sadly we have no data regarding the goals per game average. Yet if Chelsea do feature a strong side and feature the likes of Costa and Hazard then I can’t see MK Dons keeping out the goals. However this is the FA Cup and maybe the below option could be a good option for Sundays game?

MK Dons are in serious trouble right now and unless they start producing better performances then we could be watching them in League One next season. Chelsea on the other hand have been poor all season and even though recently they have improved they are still only seven points above Newcastle United who sit in one of the three relegation positions.

MK Dons v Chelsea Match Betting Odds Market

MK Dons are at home against Chelsea this Sunday yet are far from ever being selected as the favourites by the bookmakers. However we have seen the club defeat top opposition and the best odds on them repeating that can be seen coming in here @ 11/1 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets to New Registering Accounts

The Draw I feel is the best MK Don’s could hope for with a potential visit to the beautiful ground at Stamford Bridge very appealing. That however is going to be a very tough challenge with the best odds seen coming in here @ 9/2 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers

Chelsea are the Premier League Champions and do come into this game having beaten Arsenal who were at the time leading at the top. MK Dons v Chelsea Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

FA Cup 4th Round action on Sunday features the struggling Championship side MK Dons against Chelsea who are the current holders of the Premiership Crown. That said although Chelsea have improved they are still just seven points off a relegation position, yet we need to be honest with ourselves that relegation for Chelsea has seriously got to be extremely far fetched. BBC 1 are our hosts on Sunday with the game on offer in High Definition and even though it is in Milton Keynes the clubs ground is certainly nothing to be laughed at. MK Dons know it is going to be a tough challenge and part of me thinks the club would like a replay and reap the financial rewards if they get to play at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea on the other hand will not want a replay as the toils of the Premier League top teams fixture list certainly does push the limits of using your full squad with so many competitions. With the return of Eden Hazard you would come to hope the Belgian wonderkid turns on the style in a bid to get back to his world class display like we witnessed last season when the club won the Premier League. Diego Costa should also be starting even though he did have a knock against Arsenal which would be a tough challenge for the Championship side. Chelsea don’t have much else on offer up front with both Remy and Falcao out injured.

My predictions for Sundays FA Cup clash between these two clubs does of course back that of Chelsea to win with ease, and although teams often get FA Cup fever and play outstanding I can’t see Chelsea lose this game against MK Dons who are close to the relegation zone in the league below. My first will be for Chelsea to win the game, yet part of me feels due to the competition and the fact MK Dons can score I am also going to back both teams to score during the match. The other I am going for is a big IF and in my head it will be the kick Chelsea need to step up their game and eventually win the game come the end of 90 minutes. That is for MK Dons to score first in the match, although I can’t see them maintaining their lead for long.
