Arsenal v Aston Villa Preview, FA Cup Final, Saturday 30th May 2015.

With the Premiership all but over we have just one game left to complete the 2014/2015 season, which is the most famous FA Cup. Arsenal are the bookmakers favourites to win the event with them also winning the competition last year against the now relegated Hull City. Arsene Wenger will know Aston Villa will be no easy push overs even though they have lost their last two games against Sunderland and Burnley who were also relegated. Arsenal could of ended the season in second but sadly dropped points against Swansea City, Manchester United and Sunderland, yet did eventually take third place just five points ahead of Manchester United.

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood achieved what he set out to do when hired, and that was to drag the club away from being relegated into the Championship. Something that only just happened with them eventually finishing in seventeenth, just three points off of Hull City who took the plunge. The clubs confidence was on the up when they had won four and lost against Manchester City in their previous games, yet then took a huge nose dive when being thumped 6 – 1 by Southampton. If that wasn’t bad enough they then finished their final game with a loss against the relegated Burnley, and in the end relied on other teams dropping points to avoid relegation themselves.

Arsenal Team News:

Arsenal see two players return back to training this week with midfielder Mikel Arteta (ankle) and full back Mathieu Debuchy (hamstring). Ryo Miyaichi (hamstring) is due back any day now although I doubt he will be in contention for an FA Cup appearance. Still no due back date for England striker Danny Welbeck (knee) while Abou Diaby (knee) is due back any day.

Aston Villa Team News:

Aston Villa are without a number of players for this FA Cup final, with Kieran Richardson (calf), Shay Given (groin) and Jores Okore (knee) all down as doubtful. Chris Herd (Achilles and knee) is expected back at the beginning of June which is also the same for Ciaran Clark who has been out for some time due to crucial knee ligament damage.

Aston Villa: L L W W L

Arsenal are the team in far better form here even though they had dropped points come the end of the season. The loss against Swansea City was a huge result for the club and if different they could of pushed on for a second place finish. Aston Villa did pick up in form and save their season, yet the last two game see them lose dramatically and only just avoid the relegation drop.

Arsenal v Aston Villa Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

FA Cup action Saturday evening comes to us live on BBC 1 High Definition and features Arsenal verses Aston Villa and Wembley Stadium. Both sides finished at different ends of the table with Arsenal close to a second place finish, where as Aston Villa found themselves just three points away from relegation and losing their last two games of the season. Now Arsenal have also dropped points at the end of the season with a loss to Swansea City at home, and then dropping points to Manchester United and Sunderland.

Aston Villa managed to save themselves from the dreaded drop with some solid wins at the end of the season against the likes of Tottenham Hotspurs, Everton and West Ham United and were lucky other teams results ended badly with Villa losing their last two games of the season. Southampton demolished Aston Villa in a 6 – 1 romp which wouldn’t of helped when they met the already relegated Burnley and also losing that game 1 – 0.

My predictions for this game does favour that of Arsenal, as they are by far the better team coming into this FA Cup Final. Yet another part of me does always like to back the underdog when it comes down to the FA Cup, much like I did when Wigan managed to beat Manchester City a couple of years back in the final. So for the first I am going to go with an Alexis Sanchez goal and Arsenal to win the game. With the other being a correct score of Aston Villa to win 1 – 0 on the day.
