England v Peru Preview, International Friendly, Friday 30th May 2014

England play host to Peru on Friday night at Wembley Stadium and this game will provide manager Roy Hodgson with a chance for him to get the team back playing together since their 1-0 victory over Denmark back in march. The squad that is traveling to Brazil was released to the public last week and it has obviously has had plenty of debate in the pubs and the work place, but with players like Adam Lallana, Scott Barkley and Jordan Henderson bringing a lot of youth and passion into the squad I for one am quietly confident about our chances next month of at least making it through to the latter stages of the tournament.

Peru failed in their bid to reach the 2014 Finals in Brazil as they could only manage a very disappointing 9th place finish in their qualification group which was won by Argentina, but manager Pablo Bengoechea and his players will see this friendly match as a real opportunity to gain some respect after seeing fellow South American’s Chile beat England 2-0 at Wembley back in November last year.

England Team News:

England will probably go with the squad that Roy Hodgson recently chose for the world cup, however I expect that the stand by players might get a few minutes to stake a claim as to why they should be on the plane. I expect Sturridge and Rooney to lead the line in attack, however I advise to check the teams a few hours before kick off.

Peru Team News:

Obviously Peru will not be competing in this summer’s world cup s they did not qualify from a very tough group. Experienced attacking pair Claudio Pizarro and Jose Paolo Guerrero have not been selected, with a young set of strikers including potential debutantes Jean Deza and Miguel Trauco hoping to shine.

England v Peru Head to Head Statistics:

England have only played Peru on two previous occasions, which has seen both teams win one game each, however it is hard to get a true reflection on how this game will pan out with both of those games having taken place over 50 years ago.

0 : 4
17/05/59 INT Peru – England 4 : 1

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

There has been only two games played between these two clubs, which has seen an impressive nine goals scored, which provides us with an average goal per game statistic of 4.50 goals per game, although with both of these matches coming over a half a century ago it’s not really a solid statistic to rely on here for this game.

England v Peru Recent Form (Left to Right)

England: W W L L W

Peru: D L L L D

As we can see above England have a good advantage over Peru heading into this game as England have won three games and lost twice. Peru have drew two games and lost a disappointing three times from the previous five.

England v Peru Match Betting Odds Market

England will head into this friendly match as clear favourites as they prepare for the world cup, however they still need to get the job done on Friday Night and the best price for an England win currently stands at 1/3 with Coral (Deposit £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets) which does seem very short indeed considering their latest result against a South American side.

The Draw is the best that Peru can hope for in my opinion as they travel to Wembley to face a very strong England team. The best price currently available being 9/2 with Bet365 (£200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers).

Peru will try to play this game with no fear as they do not need to worry about the world cup as they had an awful qualifying campaign. I am not sure Peru will get anything at all from this game and the bookmakers seem to agree with the best price of them winning this game coming in at 10/1 with BetVictor (£25 Free Bets for New Customers).

England v Peru Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Peru who have not won a match in their last five games and will obviously be under pressure to perform in this game on Friday night after fellow South Americans Chile came away with an impressive 2-0 victory.

This is the first of three friendly Internationals for England before the World Cup kicks off in Brazil in just a few weeks time and Roy Hodgson and the England players will definitely be looking to get off to a great start by winning this game on Friday night.

Peru themselves had an awful qualifying campaign in which they could only manage a 9th place finish and with their last victory coming against Ecuador back on the 7th of June 2013 it has now been nearly a whole year since they managed to win a game.

Down to some predictions for this game and I am extremely confident about my banker for this game due to Peru having been in terrible form during their qualification campaign and having not won a match for nearly a whole year and this is going to be England to Win the Race to Three Goals.

My Saver for this game was little more difficult to choose as there is hardly any value to be had with the online bookmakers having England priced up as such short odds to win this game, but after careful consideration I have gone for Daniel Sturridge to Score Anytime as I believe manager Roy Hodgson will be probably starting with his strongest team for this game.
