Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur Preview, Premiership, Sunday 30th March 2014

Liverpool have been on fine form recently and scoring for fun and all the Liverpool fans will know that their team can out score any of there opponents put in front of them with the strongest strike force in the premier league this season.

The SAS partnership is what all defences want to avoid with Suarez and Sturridge being deadly when playing together, Liverpool have a real togetherness this season, the whole team is working hard for one another and fighting as a well oiled machine to get results and anyting but the maximum points from this game would be seen as a huge disappointment.

Tottenham had a poor run of form before getting a late winner last week against Southampton, they will look back to that game and try and use it as a boost to get there season back on track, however it will be a big ask to get a result at Anfield against a team that has such a huge scoring threat up front.

Tottenham are just 1 point behind a Europa league place which Everton currently occupy and Tim Sherwood and his players will look to keep the pressure up on Everton hoping they will slip up and make that 5th place spot there own.

Liverpool are second in the league table at the moment and just 1 point behind league leaders Chelsea and keeping pressure on them by securing 3pts from this game could force Chelsea into making a mistake in the coming weeks and Brendan Rodgers side could then capitalise and take that top spot for themselves.

Both teams will be fully aware that a victory in this game will go a long way to showing their ambitions to kick on and prove to everyone how good they are, but a defeat for Tottenham would certainly see them kiss goodbye to European fotball next season.

Liverpool Team News:

Liverpool nearly have a full squad to choose from with the only absentee being Jose Enrique with a knee injury, he is not close enough to recovery to know exactly when he will be Back for Liverpool. There are no suspensions for the title challengers.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News:

Tottenham welcome back Chiriches to their somewhat dodgy back line after he has now fully recovered from a back injury, but the bad news for Tottenham is that they are still without striker Adebayor who is suffering with a heel injury and his absence is a major blow for Totteham’s chances of scoring goals in this game. Tottenham’s other absentee’s are Lamela and Capoue.

Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur Head to Head Statistics:

Sunday afternoon’s kick off from Anfield will become the 145th meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Liverpool have won 66 times (44 at Anfield), Tottenham have won 42 times (6 at Anfield) and there has been 36 draws (21 at Anfield).

The recent head to head statistics below show us that Liverpool have a slight advantage over Tottenham winning 2 of the last 5 matches played and only losing 1. Tottenham have managed just 1 victory from the last 5 meetings with the other two matches both finishing all square.

15/12/13 PRL Tottenham – Liverpool 0 : 5
10/03/13 PRL Liverpool – Tottenham 3 : 2
28/11/12 PRL Tottenham – Liverpool 2 : 1
28/07/12 CLF Liverpool – Tottenham 0 : 0
06/02/12 PRL Liverpool – Tottenham
0 : 0

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

394 goals have been scored in the previous 144 matches played between the two clubs, which provides us with an average goal per game statistic of 2.73.

193 of those goals have been scored in the 71 matches played between the two clubs at Anfield, which gives us an average goals per game statistic of 2.71.

Looking at both statistics we should see 2 or 3 goals scored on Sunday. However I can’t think of a time where Liverpool’s strike force has been as deadly as it currently is this season, so we could be in for a few more goals that the statistics suggest here, especially if the Tottenham defence continue to make school boy errors like they have done in recent weeks.

Liverpool v Tottenham Recent Form (Left to Right)

Liverpool: W W W W W

Tottenham: L L L D W

Liverpool have a commanding advantage on the recent form stats having managed to win all of their previous 5 matches played and with Suarez and Sturridge in the kind of form they are in this season, the Spurs defence is going to be tested to breaking point come sunday afternoon.

Tottenham have managed just 1 victory from their last 5 matches played of which they drew 1 and lost 3 and unfortunately it seems that another defeat looks on the cards for Tim Sherwood’s players.

Liverpool v Tottenham Match Betting Odds Market

Liverpool will be full of confidence and will look to keep their run of 5 straight wins going. This is a must win game for Liverpool if they want to keep pressure on league leaders Chelsea and with recent form and the head to head statistics clearly in Liverpool’s favour here I believe Liverpool have a strong chance of winning this game. The bookmakers see Liverpool as strong favourites with the best price coming in at 4/9 with BetVictor (£25 Free Bets for New Customers).

The Draw could well happen as the clubs have drawn twice out of the last five matches played against each other. Tottenham’s best hope of coming up with points from this game will be the draw and the bookmakers are offering a best price of 4/1 with Betfred (£25 Free Bets for New Customers) for the two sides to share the spoils come sunday evening.

Tottenham will have a massive task to beat Liverpool at Anfield come Sunday and I believe it will have to be their performance of the season in order to get anything out of the game. The bookmakers seem to agree and are currently offering a best price of 13/2 with Bet365 (£200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers) which clearly reflects their chances of being slim to none.

Liverpool v Tottenham Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Liverpool need a win to keep up with the pack chasing the league title, I believe if they continue to play like they currently have been in recent weeks, then they have a huge chance of capturing their first ever Premiership league title.

Liverpool are scoring for fun at the moment and I believe there will be a few goals in this game. Tottenham are really going to struggle come sunday afternoon as they have had problems scoring goals all season despite spending over a 100 million on new players in the summer transfer window.

They also have to face this game without top scorer Adebayor who is out with a heel injury which is a major blow to all Tottenham fans, but could this be the game that Spanish forward Soldado finally comes to life as the lone striker leading the attack up front ?

Having had a poor start to his Premier League career he will look to improve his clubs chances to secure a Europa league place and if Tottenham fans ever needed him to payback some of that 30 million transfer fee that the club paid for him, this game would be the perfect opportunity for him to oblige.

Predictions this week have been hard, but with Liverpool scoring so freely of late my banker will be Liverpool -2 handicap result. The reason I have picked this is because Liverpool are scoring lots of goals in recent weeks.

Tottenham have struggled for goals are and without their top goalscorer, so for my saver bet I am going to predict a Liverpool 3-0 victory because with home advantage and their current form they do look the clear winners of this game.
