Leicester City v Manchester City Preview, Premiership, Tuesday 29th December 2015.

Leicester City suffered their first loss in the league in some time when they visited Anfield to face Liverpool last Saturday. Yet with Arsenal also losing to a shock 4 – 0 result to struggling side Southampton they still managed to stay top of the league after the boxing Day excitement. Tuesday nights opponents Manchester City however didn’t lose and instead came away with three points against Sunderland at The Etihad Stadium allowing the Manchester club to close the game to just three points. If Leicester City lose this game at home to Manuel Pellegrini’s men then Manchester City will go into the New Year top of the league and one of the favourites to win the title come the end of the season. That said Arsenal do welcome in form Bournemouth to The Emirates on Monday and are clear favourites to win this game, even though they have recently beaten Chelsea and Manchester United. If that happens then Arsenal we be the top side at the end of this year.

Manchester City bounced back from their 2 – 1 defeat to Arsenal on Boxing Day when they destroyed nineteenth placed Sunderland in a 4 – 1 romp at home. With Arsenal also losing on a rare occasion it does allow them to close the gap once more to just one point and also only three points off the top team Leicester City. If Arsenal lose or draw on Monday and Manchester City beat Leicester City then Pellegrini will see his side top of the league going into the new year. Manchester City have four away fixtures in a row coming up with Watford in the league the first of the new year. They then face Everton in the Capital One Cup only to then travel away once again in the FA Cup third round where they face fellow Premiership club Norwich City. To complete the last of the next five fixture they then face Everton again, but this time at home and in a Premiership encounter.

Leicester City Team News:

Leicester City ace Jamie Vardy was a doubt for this game with the striker suffering from a virus recently, yet hopefully we should see the England man start and continue his amazing season. Danny Drinkwater has returned to training after having a hamstring injury and could potentially feature against Manchester City. Jeff Schlupp is however still out of contention with a hamstring issue.

Manchester City Team News:

Once again club captain Vincent Kompany misses out after coming on in the game against Sunderland at the weekend. His calf went once again and the defender could miss a further number of games. Striker Sergio Aguero could feature after being rested in the game against Sunderland while Pablo Zabaleta and Fernando miss another game due to not being match fit just yet.

That said both clubs are flying high right now and scoring plenty so who knows what Tuesday night will bring. The below option is a good option however.

Both clubs are in good form right now yet it is Leicester City who have shocked everybody with them currently top of the Premier League through Christmas, and potentially into the New Year. A win or a draw against Manchester City is possible, and will be enough for the Foxes to remain top.

Leicester City may well be top of the league and doing well against all teams regardless of how good they are this season, and even with them being at home it still hasn’t convinced the bookmakers to make them favourites to win this game. Leicester City v Manchester City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premiership action this Tuesday night will not be the last played this year, with Sunderland verses Liverpool taking that honor. Yet it is this game that people will be looking forward to most with two of the top three teams all fighting it out and go into the new year at top of the table. This does also depend on Arsenal who host AFC Bournemouth on Monday. If Arsenal win the game which is predicted, and then Leicester City lose against Manchester City then it will of course be Arsenal top of the pile seeing out 2015. But lets say Arsenal lose or draw, which I know is unlikely, yet if it does happen and Manchester City win then it will be Manuel Pellegini’s men who see out 2015 as the Premierships top team, which in my eyes will be extremely unfair as Leicester City clearly deserve it, even if they are not favourites to actually win the title come the end of the season.

Leicester City lost their first Premiership game since September at the weekend, when they fell 1 – 0 to Liverpool at Anfield. Their last Premiership loss was to Arsenal some time ago and they have since then drawn against Manchester United and beaten the likes of Chelsea. That said Liverpool, Manchester City and the upcoming Tottenham Hotspurs will all prove to be tough fixtures for Leicester, and questions will start to be asked, if the side can continue their form for the second half of the season. Manchester City recovered at the weekend with a 4 – 1 win at home against Sunderland, with the loss to Arsenal at The Emirates a tough result to take as they plan their own battle to win the league come the end of the season. Lets face it, it is clearly Manchester City and Arsenal’s to throw away, will Chelsea no where near the top to mount any type of defense to their title.

My predictions for this game does lean towards that of the draw, even though Leicester City lost at the weekend to Liverpool, their first since the loss to Arsenal back in September. It is an impressive run of games for the Foxes who came close to being relegated come the end of last season. For my banker I plan to take both teams to score in the game, and for the game to end as some sort of draw. I feel it will be a good result for Leicester City after their recent loss. The next I am going for is in form Jamie Vardy to continue his scoring form by bagging himself a goal against Manchester City anytime during the match.
