Liverpool v Leeds United Preview, League Cup, Quarter Final, 29th November 2016

Liverpool are having a fanstastic season and head into this game full of confidence having beaten Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the previous round. The hosts have won a further three times from four league matches played since that victory scoring an impressive 12 times and conceding just one and will see this trophy as one that they have a very strong chance of winning overall.

Leeds United came through their previous round of the tournament with a penalty shootout victory against Norwich City and although the visitors are not having the best of seasons so far, they have won three more times and drawn once in the league since that epic penalty shootout victory and although huge under-dogs for this match, the players will no doubt be in confident mood for this game.

Liverpool Team News :

The hosts will be without the services of Philippe Coutinho for this game as he recovers from suspected ankle ligament damage. Roberto Frimino is also looking unlikely to feature along with Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge who has not yet returned back to training with the squad.

Leeds United Team News :

The visitors have no fresh injury problems or suspensions to contend with and I fully expect their manager to field his strongest side in this game, especially with Liverpool having some key players missing due to injury.

Liverpool v Leeds United Head to Head Statistics:

Tuesday night’s game from Anfield Stadium will become the 94th meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Liverpool have won 49 times overall with 29 of those victories having came with home advantage.

Leeds United have managed to secure 22 victories overall with 7 of those having came away from home and with the club having had a tough season so far in the championship there chances of causing what would be a huge upset look limited at best.

As we can see from our head to head to head statistics table shown below, the last five recent meetings shows Liverpool with a clear advantage, having won four times, compared to Leeds Unitedhaving won none and the remaining match having finished all square.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

239 Goals have been scored in the previous 93 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.57.

117 of those Goals have came in the 46 previous matches played at Vicarage Road and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of 2.54.

Based on both sets of data shown above it does seem to suggest that this game should see at least a few goals scored and betting markets like Over 2.5 Goals and Total Match Goals 2 or 3 look good options for this one.

Liverpool v Leeds United Match Betting Odds Market

Liverpool are having a fantastic season at the moment and look very strong candidates to win this trophy overall. The hosts head into this game 2nd place in the premiership league table and unbeaten in their last five matches played, so no real shock to see them as the current odds on favourites at a best price of just 2/7 with BetFred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets when Registering a New Account.

The Draw is a current a best price of 11/2 with Coral – Bet £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets when Registering a New Account and for me does seem to be the best possible result that Leeds United could obtain here if their luck holds out.

Leeds United are playing quite well at the moment as we can see by their recent form statistics, but this is huge step up in class for them and not many people will fancy them to beat a strong looking in form Liverpool at Anfield Stadium as reflected by their current best odds of 11/1 with BetVictor – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets when Registering a New Account.

Liverpool v Leeds United Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

I for one am really looking forward to this game as although not many people will give Leeds United a hope of causing an upset, it does look like being a very entertaining match and with both sides in great for at the moment I fully expect this match to see plenty of goals.

Obviously, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could throw a spanner in the works by resting a number of his key players for this one and using this game as an opportunity to provide some of his squads fringe players a chance to impress.

If that is the case then I would expect this match to be a lot closer than it would be and Leeds United could even take the game into extra time. However, with Liverpool not having won a trophy for 4 years now, I would like to think that Klopp will play a strong side to try and at least deliver the fans a chance to see their side win a trophy.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker Free Tip for this game is going to be for Both Teams to Score & Liverpool to Win as with Leeds United in good form at the moment I can possibly see them getting at least one goal during this match.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip for this game will be for Liverpool Striker Sadio Mane to Score the 1st Goal of the Game as he continues to impress me with every match I see him play and with an eye for goal, he looks a good selection here.
