Arsenal v Chelsea Preview, Capital One Cup, Tuesday 29th October 2013

With some impressive displays this season by youngster Serge Gnabry he has now been rewarded with a long term contract. The German youth player has played exceptionally well since Walcott was forced out of the side due to injury and has since then been a regular in Arsene Wenger’s side after he made his debut against Stoke earlier on in the season. A week later the 18 year old scored against Swansea where Arsenal went on to win 2 – 1 away from home.

We see yet again the effects Real Madrid have when rumours start to spread about them signing new potential candidates and this time it comes with the Brazilian midfielder Ramires who is playing exceptional football right now under Jose Mourinho. He has since stated that he is flattered by the supposed talk of interest from Real but has also said he is fully committed to Chelsea and his long term contract. He has made over 150 appearances for the club and has said the only way he will leave is if he is forced out which doesn’t look likely after playing so well.

Arsenal v Chelsea Team News

Arsenal Team News:

Arsenal are likely to appeal against the red card Mikel Arteta received during the 2 – 0 win over Crystal Palace at the weekend after he clashed with former Arsenal flop Marouane Chamakh 35 yards away from the goal, both players fell down in a heap after what looked like a 50/50 challenge. Yet referee Chris Foy see it as a goal scoring opportunity and gave a red to the Arsenal midfielder after consulting with his linesman. Luckily for Arteta he was unlikely going to start against Chelsea anyway which eases the issue slightly where he would now be banned for one match regardless.

Chelsea Team News:

With Fernando Torres on fire in recent weeks you would likely guess his name is one to go first down on the team sheet, something you wouldn’t of expected since his beginning days at Liverpool so long ago now, and it is great to see the Spanish striker finally regaining the respect he deserves after the effort and determination he is showing to regain what was lost in previous years. He played exceptionally well against Manchester City on Sunday setting up the opening goal for Schurrle and then grabbing the winner in the 90th minute after a Joe Hart blunder which undid man of the match Sergio Aguero’s equalizer just after the break.

Arsenal v Chelsea Head to Head Statistics

Results in the last couple of years have favored Chelsea having won at home and away in last years Premiership campaign but with the exception of a draw before that is was pretty much in Arsenals corner in regards to league results. But you would have to give Arsenal the slight advantage here due to the form they are in recently. But then again this will be Arsene Wenger’s toughest test in the league to date after a Chelsea side just beat Manchester City at home at the weekend and will be full of confidence when it comes to facing this Arsenal side.

27/12/10 PRL Arsenal – Chelsea 3 : 1

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

The 18 goals in the last five head to head matches comes across as a little too generous with eight of them coming from one game back in 2011 where Arsenal beat a Chelsea side 5 goals to 3 away from home, I remember that game clearly as I was sitting behind one of the goals as a neutral and enjoyed every minute with so much action at both ends.. But regardless of that fact it still gives us an average of 3.6 goals per game which should indicate seeing a few goals hitting the net come Tuesday evening.

Arsenal v Chelsea Recent Form (Left to Right)

Arsenal: W L W D W

Chelsea: W W W W W

Chelsea and Arsenal are both in great form right now but you would have to give it to Chelsea after beating Manchester City in the last minute of the game with a Torres goal after a Joe Hart mistake. This will be Arsenals toughest Premiership League test since they kick started their league campaign with a loss to Aston Villa, but have since gone on to win comfortably with the exception of a draw away to West Brom at the beginning of October.

Arsenal v Chelsea Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

I may not be able to predict the correct scoreline for this game but what I can say is I can imagine it being an incredible game of great football and end to end action. I do believe Chelsea with get the result here even though I also feel both teams have an exceptional chance to score which will be one of my predictions seen below.

I also feel Fernando Torres will score, I am thinking of going for the first goal scorer but in truth that could go either way as you also have Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud in form and often does grab the first goal, but whenever I back him he always lets me down! So for this game I am going for a FIRST goal from Fernando Torres and plan to do it with Betfred who are offering to double my money if Torres manages to score again, then also furthering it by trebling my original price if he somehow scores a hat-trick which is unlikely. But as you can see with my thinking regarding Olivier Giroud, is that he rarely scores a second goal as where Torres has proven to do so on more than one occasion.
