Derby County v Leeds United Preview, Championship, Saturday 29th August 2015

Derby County have started the new season still looking for their first win as although they have not lost any of their four matches played, they have not managed a win either and their four draws obtained currently has them in 16th position of the championship league table.

Saturday’s lunch time game at the Ipro Stadium provides manager Paul Clement and his side an opportunity to record their first victory of the season and with a sell out crowd fully behind them everything looks to be in their favour.

Leeds United are in exactly the same position as their hosts as they have also started their new season with four draws and currently occupy 15th position in the championship league table, but the visitors have conceded a goal more than Derby County and with the club having only managed just two victories in their last twelve visits to the Ipro Stadium, Uwe Rösler’s side do look up against it here on Saturday afternoon.

Derby County Team News:

The hosts have almost a full squad available but will be without Jeff Hendrick, Jamie Hanson and Craig Bryson are all still recovering from respective injury related problems and remain unavailable. Johnny Russell and Chris Martin will lead the attack up front for the hosts.

Leeds United Team News:

No fresh injury problems for the visitors and they welcome back Lewis Cook after the player has now served his three match ban. Mirko Antenucci and Chris Wood will once again lead the attack up front for the visitors and both playerswill be looking to add yet another goal to their season tally come Saturday afternoon.

Derby County v Leeds United Head to Head Statistics:

Saturday’s lunch time game from the Ipro Stadium will become the 78th meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Derby County have won 31 with 21 of those having came with home advantage where as Leeds United have managed 32 victories, with 10 of those having came away from home.

As we can see from our head to head to head statistics table shown below, recent meetings between the two clubs shows Derby County having almost dominated proceedings over the last few season’s having won 3 times, compared to Leeds United having won just the 1.

30/12/14 CHA Derby County – Leeds United 2 : 0
29/11/14 CHA Leeds United – Derby County 2 : 0
03/05/14 CHA Leeds United – Derby County 1 : 1
05/10/13 CHA Derby County – Leeds United 3 : 1
01/04/13 CHA Leeds United – Derby County
1 : 2

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

210 Goals have been scored in the previous 77 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.73.

116 of those Goals have came in the 39 previous matches played at Ewood Park Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of 2.97.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to indicate that this game should see at least a couple of goals scored and betting markets like Both Team to Score and Total Match Goals 2 or 3 could see a nice profit return.

Derby County: D L D D D

Leeds United: D L D D D

Both clubs have exactly the same recent form from their previous five matches played which does seem to suggest that this game could very well up finishing all square on Saturday afternoon.

Derby County v Leeds United Match Betting Odds Market

Derby County are currently the clear favourites to win this game on Saturday afternoon with a best price available of 13/20 with BetVictor – Receive £50 Free Bets For New Customers.

The Draw has happened once in the last five matches played between the two clubs, so does look a possibility, especially if we take both clubs recent form into account and is currently a best price of 3/1 with BetFred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets For New Customers.

Leeds United have struggled in this fixture in recent season’s and would need to put in a very good peformance to win this game on Saturday afternoon in my opinion and their current best price of 11/2 with Bet365 – Receive £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers, does seem to reflect their chances in this one.

Derby County v Leeds United Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Both clubs have struggled to really get going yet this season, but I do expect that to change for at least one of these teams as although both sides have drawn all of their opening four matches, I don’t see that result happening on Saturday afternoon as it really does neither side any real favours.

As such I am expecting both sides to start this game very much on the front foot and for this game to see at least a few goals scored as both squads have players in good goalscoring form at the moment.

We have to go back to the 26th April 2002 to find the last time that Leeds United won this fixture at the Ipro Stadium but I do feel they have more than a good chance of winning this game what with Chris Wood and Mirko Antenucci both having started the new season well in front of goal.

However, the safer option does seem to be the goals market and as such Both Teams to Score is going to be my Banker Free Tip for this match.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be for Leeds United’s Chris Wood to open the scoring as he certainly has what it takes in front of goal as already proved this season with two goals and his current odds available are definitely overpriced in my opinion.
