Scotland v Gibraltar Preview, Euro 2016 Qualification, Sunday 29th March 2015

Sundays EURO Championship Qualifier should be a nice routine win for Scotland who themselves recorded a win against Northern Ireland in a friendly match last Wednesday. However it wasn’t as easy as Gordon Strachan would of hoped as they only managed a one nil victory after ninety minutes. Scotland are level with Germany on points right now and a win as predicted could see them continue plying pressure on the World Champions, who themselves face Georgia away from home.

Gibraltar are a team full of big characters and are still yet to record a win in this qualifying competition. They are sat routed at the bottom of the table and have so far conceded twenty one goals, what adds more salt to the would, is that they have still yet to score themselves. In their last five fixtures they have however managed a win, which was a friendly against Malta back in June of last year. Gibraltar will know their opponents will be solid favourites to win on Sunday, and the question will be by how many goals.

Scotland Team News:

Scotland’s début striker Matt Richie may of featured against Northern Ireland, yet has since then pulled out of the qualifier against Gibraltar due to an injury. Gordon Strachan has been playing around with his goalkeeping options and right now has Cardiff City’s Marshall and Allan McGregor of Hull City as his options after both played a half each against Northern Ireland.

Gibraltar Team News:

Gibraltar will no doubt be starting the UK based players Scott Wiseman, David Artell, Adam Priestley and Jake Gosling who all play for a number of clubs such as Preston North End and Bristol Rovers. Right now Gibraltar are bottom of the table and struggling to find the net, meanwhile also struggling to keep out the ball from their own.

Scotland v Gibraltar Head to Head Statistics:

This will be the first time Gibraltar and Scotland have met and what a fixture it is set to be with plenty of goals starting to be promised. The odds are on for Scotland to win by around four to five goals while also conceding none.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

With this being the first time these two nations have met, we sadly do not have any goals to allow us a goals per game average. Yet we are expected to see at least four or five on Sunday when Scotland host Gibraltar, and I wouldn’t expect much less when Scotland eventually travel to Gibraltar in October.

Scotland will be the side in far better form with three wins a draw and that loss to England at Wembley. Gibraltar have recorded an extremely rare win against Malta in a friendly match, yet have since lost all four of their qualifying games.

Scotland v Gibraltar Match Betting Odds Market

Scotland as we can expect , are the clear favourites to win on Sunday with bookmakers setting the odds way out of any worthwhile contention. The best odds available right now if you do fancy it can be found here @ 1/50 with Betfred – Bet £10 Get £30 Free Bets for New Registering Accounts

The Draw is the best Gibraltar could hope for but even then that result is seriously unlikely. The odds are great for that result and however slim the chance of it coming in, it could be very well worth while a small bet. Gibraltar are not seen to have any hope of winning this game and it shows with the incredible odds given by Coral and Bet365. The bookmakers will be shocked to see an away win on Sunday, and you can find the best odds here @ 100/1 with Coral – Bet £5 & Get £20 Free when Registering a New Account.

Scotland v Gibraltar Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

European Championship Qualifiers on Sunday comes to us live on Sky Sports 1 High Definition and features Scotland verses whipping boys Gibraltar. Scotland are expected to win with ease and some are expected just as many goals as neighbours Republic of Ireland scored when they demolished them 7 – 0. Gibraltar will come to Scotland and no doubt give it their all on Sunday, yet even that wouldn’t be enough to scratch the surface against Gordon Strachan’s men.

Both teams form table are very far apart with Scotland playing extremely well right now and even giving world champions Germany a run for their money. Their on loss recently was against England at Wembley in a friendly encounter, and have since then won three times and also drawn. Gibraltar have recorded a rare win against Malta in a friendly, yet have since then lost all four qualifying games rather heavily having conceded twenty one and scored zero.

My predictions for when these two meet on Sunday will of course back the home side Scotland with a win, yet its how to do it and actually be given some decent odds. As going for the basic Scotland to win just wouldn’t be worth it. So lets go for a correct score of Scotland to win 5 – 0 on the night, which is at least giving some decent odds right now. The next I am going for is Jordan Rhodes to score two or more goals on the night.
