Burnley v Leicester City Preview, Championship, Saturday 29th March 2014

The English Championship is one of the toughest leagues in the world with so many potential Premiership sides littering its table. This Saturday lunchtime is yet another one of those great games that will no doubt be watched by millions worldwide. Burnley have been in exceptional form and continue to ply pressure on Leicester City who top the table. This game against the league leaders will be a must win and will close the gap to equal points until Leicester City get to play their current game in hand.

Leicester City slipped up at home at the weekend to relegation side Yeovil Town, a side who continue to shock the tougher teams in the division. It was a must win game for the league leaders who have dropped an incredible eight points in the last ten Championship games. but this game Saturday lunchtime could give them a little breathing space if they do manage a win. Promotion either way looks very likely for both these sides with Queens Park Rangers a healthy ten points behind in the top play off place.

Burnley v Leicester City Team News

Burnley News:

Ex Manchester United youth goalkeeper Tom Heaton has been in fine form this season and only missed one league game where Cisak filled in. But he should be set to start yet another game this coming Saturday. One thing going extremely well for Burnley is the double lethal strike partnership of Danny Ings on nineteen goals and then Sam Vokes on Twenty. We also have plenty of goals coming from midfield with Scott Arfield among them with six.

Leicester City News

We mentioned Manchester United above for Burnley, but this time we see their legends son Kasper Schmeichel once more between the sticks this Saturday lunchtime. The young Dane has played in every league game this season and is touted to be on the move in the Summer transfer window, although no hard truth has been seen of this. Jason Vardy (16) and David Nugent (17) are Leicester City’s breadline right now with both strikers being in exceptional form this season.

Burnley v Leicester City Head to Head Statistics

In their last 5 head to head encounters we see that it is Leicester City who are in front with 3 wins and 2 draws. In total though these two have played each other 59 times with Burnley coming out on top with 26 wins to Leicester City’s 16. We also have a total of 17 draws with 8 of these seen at the Turf Moor stadium.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the last 59 games played between these two clubs we have seen a total of 177 goals scored which is giving us an average of 3 goals per game, but looking above at their last 5 encounters that number is a little far off with it actually being 2 goals per game and would be the safer bet if looking at this statistic.

Burnley v Leicester City Recent Form (Left to Right)

Burnley: W W W D W

Leicester City: D D W W W

In their last five games we actually see second placed Burnley is slightly better form with two extra points earned in the league, this has now closed the gap between the two top sides to just three points with Leicester City having a game in hand.

Burnley are at home and in slightly better form for this game so are set as the lunchtime kickoff favourites to win, with the bookmakers best odds currently seen here @ 2/1 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets For New Customers Registering an Account.

The Draw I feel could be a very good option as both teams will be desperate for the win here on Saturday with neither of the two wanting to lose. The bookmakers best odds right now are coming in @ 12/5 with Bet365 – £200 Free Bets For New Customers Registering an Account.

Leicester City are away from home but still in good form and also have the game in hand here but they certainly wont be wanting to lose this game. Burnley v Leicester City Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

This is certainly a game a lot of fans will be waiting to see on Sky Sports 1 this Saturday lunchtime. The big two of one of the toughest leagues in the world coming together in a lock of horns. Burnley and Leicester City have both been in exceptional form this season and have clearly earned the right to grace the top two spots where as Queens Park Rangers may of lead for a time earlier on they now seem to of fizzled out midway thus allowing these two to take over the top battle.

Burnley are favourites for this game and are also the side in slightly better form as of late, where as Leicester City have dropped eight points in their last ten league games which has allowed the home side here to play catch up in recent months. Leicester City are of course still well in their rights to earn a win here on Saturday and it would be stupid to dismiss that fact when doing my prediction below.

I personally feel this game could go either way so play to one way or the other back both teams to win. We could go for a win and a certain goalscorer with both sides having two very in form strikers hitting the target on a regular basis. So for my first I will go for Sam Vokes to score anytime with a Burnley win. The next will be for both teams to score and Leicester City to win which could also prove a worth choice.
