Swansea v Valencia Preview, Europa League, Thursday 28th November 2013

With a win on Thursday we could see Welsh outfit Swansea progress to the last 32 of the Europa League. With Swansea manager Michael Laudrup recently in the news stating that he is insisting on a positive result against Valencia to allow a guaranteed qualification into the knock-out stage. Swansea have already beaten the Spanish side away from home as well as won against St Gallen, and with 2 draws against Kuban Krasnodar it has only placed them in 2nd place in Group A behind Thursdays opponents Valencia.

Valencia come into Thursdays game on the back of a defeat against Elche after Cristian Herrera scored late on in his debut to shock Valencia 2 – 1 after a tense 90 minutes away from home. It is a game they should of really won but with form not the best it allowed Elche to climb one spot above them in the La Liga. They may have already qualified into the knock out stages of the Europa League but they will still wish to win this game against Swansea who themselves put Valencia to the sword in a 3 – 0 romp in Spain back in September.

Swansea v Valencia Team News

Swansea Team News:

Swansea Left back Neil Taylor is getting fitter every week after missing out on most of last season due to an ankle injury and he has again been injured recently but this time only a dead leg. The Welsh international is taking it step by step and although he may not be selected for Thursdays matches he should likely be available against Fulham at the weekend.

Valencia Team News:

Valencia are still without Guaita their 2nd choice goalkeeper for Thursdays match which shouldn’t be a huge issue unless current number one Diego Alves pulls out which is unlikely as the Brazilian is looking fit after completing 10 games already this season. Third choice goalkeeper Jaume Domenech will be called in to warm the bench until Guaita does recover from his shoulder injury which he picked up during training just over a week ago.

Swansea v Valencia Head to Head Statistics

With these two sides only playing each other once in the past you would think it would of been Valencia with the better results. But I feel they were under estimating Michael Laudrup’s Swansea when they first met in September which see the Welsh side cruise to an incredible 3 – 0 win much to the disappointment of the Valencia supporters.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

With only 1 head to head statistic to go on we have seen 3 goals been scored which of course gives us an average of 3 goals per game. And with Swansea playing at home and Valencia losing at the weekend we could see a similar result on Thursday if the Spanish are not careful.

Swansea v Valencia Recent Form (Left to Right)

Swansea: W D D L D

Valencia: L D W W L

Both teams are not exactly playing too well right now with the bigger disappointment being Valencia who are usually a side challenging for honours at the end of the season. After losing to new promoted side Elche at the weekend you would think Swansea would then be given the advantage for this match. To be honest I do believe they will have the advantage on Thursday with having already beaten them away from home back in September.

Swansea v Valencia Match Betting Odds Market.

Swansea are clear favourites for Thursdays clash in Wales and after already beating them in Spain I can understand why. The best odds are coming in @ 23/20 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets For New Customers Registering an Account.

The Draw is an option of Valencia manage to regain their lost confidence, but with manager Michael Laudrup wanting to play for the win I doubt it will happen, with the best odds @ 5/2 with Coral – Receive £50 Free Bets when Registering a New Account.

Valencia maybe top of the group with good results found elsewhere, but against Swansea they found it hard to play and eventually see Swansea City embarrass them back in September. the best odds can be seen here @ 11/4 with Ladbrokes (£30 Free Bets for New Customers)

Swansea v Valencia Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Thursdays UEFA Europa League Group A clash promises to be an exciting one with Spanish mid table side Valencia looking to regain some respect as they search for revenge against Swansea City who themselves are sitting mid table in the English Premiership League. After the September result at Valencia’s ground in which Swansea City thumped them 3 – 0 much to the shock of the home fans who possibly before that fixture had never heard of Swansea.

With such a rich history at Valencia it is sad to see them drop so low in recent years, mid table is something rarely seen by this club who were once seen as possible title contenders in the La Liga as they battled it out with Barcelona, Real and Atletico Madrid giving the neutral something exciting to witness. So what result to go for in Thursdays match which itself looks set to be a good game. I personally do see Swansea winning this match with them having the upper hand having already destroyed them once and the fact they come off of a weekend league win against Fulham whereas Valencia lost late on against newly promoted side Elche.

So I plan to go for a 2 – 1 Swansea City win as I do feel Valencia will have a goal in them as they look to keep top place in Group A. The other bet you could go for is for both teams to score on the night which wont have the best odds but will surely put some notes back into your pocket depending on what stake you place. The other option in which I do plan to go for is for both teams to score and Swansea to win which is giving a lot better odds than the previous mentioned.
