Liverpool v Bournemouth Preview, Capital One Cup, Wednesday 28th October 2015

Liverpool are starting to look much better since new manager Jurgen Klopp took over and although they could only draw 1-1 at home against Southampton in the league the weekend, that result will be looked at as a positive move in the right direction and both the fans and players will be in confident mood of winning this Captial One Cup match on Wednesday night.

Bournemouth started their new season in the Premiership very well indeed, but two 5-1 hammerings in recent weeks by Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur can only have had a negative effect on the players confidence and it does seem like manager Eddie Howe does need to mabye get his side playing a more defensive formation and try to hit teams on the counter attack.

Liverpool Team News:

Daniel Sturridge will be missing once again for the Reds. The striker is not yet back in training after a knee problem, but one or both of Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino could start up front following their substitute appearances against Southampton at the weekend.

James Milner is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season and the changes Klopp makes to his team may include bringing in one or more of the club’s youngsters.

Bournemouth Team News:

Bournemouth’s squad is stretched. Cherries boss Eddie Howe would like to make changes, but long-term injuries to Tommy Elphick (ankle), Callum Wilson, Tyrone Mings and Max Gradel (all knee) will make that tricky.

Assistant manager Jason Tindall also revealed on Tuesday that they will assess “one or two knocks” following Sunday’s 5-1 defeat by Tottenham.

Liverpool v Bournemouth Head to Head Statistics:

Wednesday night’s game from Anfield Stadium will become only the fourth ever meeting between the two clubs over the years and as we can see from our head to head statistics table shown below, it has been Liverpool who have enjoyed the better results having won all three previous encounters with Bournemouth having failed to win any.

17/08/15 PRL Liverpool – Bournemouth 1 : 0
17/12/14 LEC Bournemouth – Liverpool 1 : 3
25/01/14 FAC Bournemouth – Liverpool 0 : 2

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

7 Goals have been scored in the previous 3 matches played between the two clubs, which provides us with an average goals statistic of exactly 2.33.

1 of those Goals have been scored in the previous 1 match played between the two clubs at Anfield Stadium, which generates us with an average goals per game statistic of exactly 1.00.

Both sets of data seem to indicate that we should see between one or two goals scored in this game on Wednesday night.

Niether club has been winning a great deal of games in their last previous five matches played, but Liverpool have remained unbeaten during this period, compared to Bournemouth who have lost twice and those statistics do seem to suggest that Liverpool have the slight edge in this match.

Bournemouth ahave conceded ten goals in their previous two matches and with the current injury list that the manager has as the club at the moment, it doesn’t look likely to get much better and this is really reflected in their current best odds of 7/1 with BetVictor – Receive £50 Free Bets for New Customers.

Liverpool v Bournemouth Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Liverpool are definitely worthy favourites to win this game on Wednesday night as not only do they have home advantage, they are going up against a side that has suffered from terrible defensive issues over the past couple of weeks and have a number of players missing through injury.

Add to that the previous head to head statistics which shows Liverpool having won all three previous encounters and the fact that Benteke is likely to feature at some point of this game if he doesn’t start the match and the writing certainly looks on the wall for Bournemouth here.

Onto some predictions for the match then and my Banker Free Tip is going to be for the game to see a total of 2 or 3 goals as I am expecting either a 2-0 or 2-1 victory for the hosts and this selection does offer up some value in a match where very little is available from the online bookmakers.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be for Benteke to Score the First Goal of the match as hopefully Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will start the game with him up front after he scored at the weekend against Southampton.
