Manchester City v West Ham United Preview, Premiership, Sunday 28th August 2016.

It’s been a busy week for Manchester City when looking at the transfer news. As Joe Hart now looks set to search for a new club willing to take him on and his giant wage bill of £120k a year. I’ve no idea why Pep Guardiola doesn’t like Hart even though the England no.1 didn’t have the best of tournaments in France. The stopper is still no doubt the best England have right now but unless he is playing I can imagine him losing his starting spot for his country.

With Claudio Bravo now signing from Barcelona you would of expected the keeper to start with him seen as the clubs new number one. Yet it will more likely to be Willy Caballero that starts on Sunday especially with him currently playing well having only conceded twice in recent games played. Manchester City will want to win this game as next week will be the Manchester Derby and no team will want to go to Old Trafford on the back of a disappointing result.

Talking about disappointing results, West Ham United see themselves knocked out of Europe early this week when they lost 1 – 0 at home against Astra. The game then ended 2 – 1 on aggregate much to the embarrassment of the club and fans and they will want a quick bounce back by earning a point or three against this talented Manchester City side.

West Ham United have so far lost to Chelsea 2 – 1 and then beat AFC Bournemouth in the Premiership and of course the poor Europa League results against Astra of the Romanian League. After this game against Manchester City we do see that the East End club have a run of easier games with the likes of Watford, West Bromwich Albion and Southampton in the league, as well as Accrington Stanley in the League Cup competition.

Manchester City Team News:

Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho was stretchered off midweek when the club beat Steaua Bururest in the Champions League qualifiers yet has since then been cleared of any serious injury. We are however missing right back Bacary Sagna and fellow defender and club captain Vincent Kompany. As well as new signing Ilkay Gundogan who is still not fit enough to feature.

West Ham United Team News:

West Ham United have struggled without Dimitri Payet who has been rested mainly due to the EURO’s in France with him reaching the final, yet manager Slaven Bilic does hope his best player can play in this important fixture. Another who has been out is Manuel Lanzini who has been out injured for a while, yet could make a return in time for Sunday much like club captain Mark Noble who suffered a minor knock against Astra. Havard Nordveit is still set to miss out this match.

Manchester City v West Ham United Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five battles played out between these two Premiership sides it is in fact all equal with two wins each and the more recent draw. In total they have faced each other on 93 occasions with Manchester City enjoying more wins with 44. The club have however lost on 33 occasions and then also drawn just the 16. Manchester City are at home this Sunday and of course the favourites to make it another victory.

In the 93 games played out between the two we have seen a total of 285 goals scored. So I am going to go for the below selection for Sundays game which could prove to be a good choice.

As we can see above it is Manchester City who have enjoyed the better results recently with just the one loss and four wins. Where as West Ham United have suffered twice to the hands of low league Romanian side Astra, as well as two other loses at the back of the last five games played. Manchester City are at home and the solid favourites.

Manchester City are the home side and clearly the bookmakers favourites to win this game come Sunday afternoon. And it comes as no surprise when looking at West Ham United recent results in Europe. The Draw is a result seen when they last met yet could it happen again at The Etihad Stadium this Sunday? I am not feeling it to be honest even though though I do feel West Ham United are a good enough team to upset Manchester City. West Ham United so have what it takes to upset Manchester City, but with the way they are currently playing could it actually happen on Sunday? I highly doubt it, but then that is only my opinion. Manchester City v West Ham United Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premier League action this Sunday afternoon will be seen live at The Etihad Stadium and features Manchester City verses West Ham United on Sky Sports 1 High Definition. West Ham United are not in the best of form right now having been knocked out of the Europa League in the qualifying stages. What is worse is that it was to a low league standard Romanian side that many haven’t even heard of, much to the embarrassment of the club and fans.

Manchester City however did qualify in Europe having beaten Steaua Bucurest over two legs to step into the group stages of the Champions League. The club do have a tough group with Spanish giants Barcelona as the favourites, but then they do have Borussia M’gladbach who can be tough as well as Celtic who are always hit and miss when coming to Europe competitions.

West Ham United would of liked to progressed into the group stages of the Europa League and I am shocked to see them fail in doing so. It will of course be a massive disappointment yet the club and players will need to pick themselves up when visiting Manchester come Sunday lunchtime. They may of won twice in the last five games played against City, but the way things are currently it could be tough this weekend.

West Ham United do have some easier opponents after this game against Manchester City yet will still not want to lose even though they come into this game as clear underdogs. So for my banker predictions I feel going for both teams to score and Manchester City to win could be a solid option. The other I am going for is a correct score prediction, with a 2 – 1 win to the home side being my favourite of the available picks.
