Blackburn Rovers v Bolton Wanderers Preview, Championship, Friday 28th August 2015

Blackburn Rovers have had a terrible start to their new season and currently occupy 22nd position in the championship league table having recorded two draws and two defeats from their opening four matches played and although the manager and fans have not started to panic just yet, it will be important to everyone involved at the club to get a win on Friday night.

Bolton Wanderers have also had a poor start to their new season and like their hosts they have also drawn two and lost two of their opening four matches and currently occupy 23rd position in the championship league table and the worrying thing so far for Bolton fans is that they have only seen their side score just one goal in those first four matches which does seem to indicate that the club needs to bring in some new players if they are to recover from such a bad start.

Blackburn Rovers Team News:

The hosts have almost a full squad avaialable for this game but could probably be missing star striker Jordan Rhodes who has missed the last two games due to a knee injury and it’s unlikely he will be risked what with the International break coming up after the weekend.

Bolton Wanderers Team News:

The visitors will be without Darren Pratley and David Wheater who remain unavailable as both players continue to receive treatment for respective injury related problems. Derik Osede and Liat Trotter have now both returned to training having recovered from their recent injury problems, but are unlikely to feature in this match due to their match fitness.

Blackburn Rovers v Bolton Wanderers Head to Head Statistics:

Friday night’s game from Ewood Park Stadium will become the 103rd meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Blackburn Rovers have won 38 with 28 of those having came with home advantage where as Bolton Wanderers have managed 41 victories, with 13 of those having came away from home.

As we can see from our head to head to head statistics table shown below, recent meetings between the two clubs has seen Bolton having enjoyed slightly the better of it having managed to win 3 times, compared to Blackburn Rovers having only won 1.

11/03/15 CHA Blackburn Rovers – Bolton Wanderers 1 : 0
26/12/14 CHA Bolton Wanderers – Blackburn Rovers 2 : 1
01/03/14 CHA Bolton Wanderers – Blackburn Rovers 4 : 0
31/08/13 CHA Blackburn Rovers – Bolton Wanderers 4 : 1
05/03/13 CHA Bolton Wanderers – Blackburn Rovers
1 : 0

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

327 Goals have been scored in the previous 102 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 3.21.

178 of those Goals have came in the 51 previous matches played at Ewood Park Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of 3.49.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to indicate that this game should see at least a couple of goals scored and betting markets like Total Match Goals 2 or 3 and Both Team to Score are probably worth a closer look.

Both sides have been awful of late as we can clearly see by their recent form statistics shown above and with both clubs having won 0, drawn 2 and lost 3 from their last five matches played, it does seem to suggest that this game could finish all square.

Blackburn Rovers v Bolton Wanderers Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Both sides will be desperate to secure their first win of the new season so I am expecting a very open and attacking match taking place on Friday night at Ewood Park.

The hosts have a slight advantage in my opinion based on all the historical statistics mentioned earlier in this preview and should have enough about them to secure the much needed victory in this one even if star striker Jordan Rhodes doesn’t feature.

Bolton have only managed to score just one goal this season and in a fixture that they have not done very well in over recent season’s it does seem like their chances of winning this game are very limited indeed.

Onto some predictions for the match then and my Banker Free Tip is going to be for Blackburn to Win as with home advantage and a packed out crowd fully behind them and the fact that they have done well at home against Bolton over the years, we should hopefully see this as a winning tip come the full time whistle.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be for Nathan Delfouneso to score the first goal of the game as if Jordan Rhodes is unavailable to feature then he will be the hosts main attacking threat.
