West Ham United v Crystal Palace Preview, Premiership, Saturday 28th February 2015.

We are currently seeing West Ham United in a delicate state right now and unless results are starting to improve by clocking in some wins, we could see them gradually decline further down the Premiership table, especially after doing so well and spending most of the season in the top six. I say this because Crystal Palace are the easier of the three Premier League games they have coming up with them also having to play Chelsea at home, and then Arsenal at the Emirates. After that however they do play struggling sides Sunderland, Leicester City and the best of the three, Stoke City. Before then having to play the current English Champions away from home.

Crystal Palace did look like they were starting to turn things around when they recorded four wins, a draw and a loss out of their six games in January, and when they started February on a high winning away to Leicester City we did start to feel that safety was in order. Yet since then have drawn to Newcastle United while then losing to Liverpool in the FA Cup and now Arsenal in the Premiership. The difficulty of their up  coming fixtures is very sporadic with the likes of Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City to name a couple. They do have an easier run that most in their remaining twelve league games and I feel with how they are doing should very well stay up come the end of the season.

West Ham United Team News:

West Ham United are without three players for this fixture Saturday lunchtime, and it comes as no surprise when we see Andy Carroll once again on the injury list with his crucial knee ligaments. Diego Poyet is the other injured player and has been out for some time with a knock. Morgan Amalfitano misses out after he stupidly got sent off in the 4 – 0 humiliation against West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup.

Crystal Palace Team News:

Crystal Palace have four injured players on thier list and the newest is Arsenal loaned striker Yaya Sanogo with his hamstring. James McArthur is also missing with a thigh muscle strain while Jerome Thomas sits out with a knock. The last is Welshman Jonathan Williams with a groin strain.

West Ham United v Crystal Palace Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five encounters we can see it is Crystal Palace who have enjoyed the better results with two wins, a loss and two draws. In total we only have 22 games recorded between the two London sides with West Ham United coming out on top with 9 wins and 6 loses, meaning we have also seen a total of 7 draws.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 22 games we have recorded we have seen a total of 53 goals scored, which is going to give us an average of 2.4 goals per game. With looking at the above results over the last few years I am not sure if going for that selection would be a safe bet. Yet with the way both sides are scoring currently it could very well be on the cards.

West Ham United: D L D D L

Crystal Palace: L L D W L

Crystal Palace are the only side here with a win in their last five fixtures, everything else seen by both have either been draws or loses. Yet looking at the two we would still have to go with eighth places West Ham United who have had the tougher opponents with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Southampton.

West Ham United v Crystal Palace Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Premiership action this Saturday lunchtime comes to us live on Sky Sports 1 High Definition and features two London clubs, West Ham United verses Crystal Palace. A win for West Ham United will mean they stay in eighth position behind Tottenham Hotspurs yet a loss could see them slip to ninth depending on Swansea City result. Crystal Palace will temporary go above Everton into twelfth position if they do manage an away win yet a loss could see them go as low as sixteenth, potentially two points away from a relegation position.

Crystal Palace however did start to turn things around in January and actually won four and drew another out of the six games they actually played. Yet February hasn’t started so well with them losing to Liverpool (FA Cup) and Arsenal in the league. West Ham United however haven’t won a game since that 1 – 0 win against Bristol City in the FA Cup 5th round and have since then drawn three and lost the twice including the 4 – 0 knock-out by West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup late stages.

My predictions for this Premiership clash will see West Ham United record their first win for February as well as a potential upset with them recording yet another draw to add to their misery. So for the first I am going to go for a correct score guess of West Ham to win 2 – 1. With the next seeing the two clubs draw while both scoring on the day. Something that is more than possible with the way the two sides are currently playing.
