Liverpool v Wolves Preview, FA Cup 4th Round, Saturday 28th January 2017.

The situation for Liverpool could go from bad to worse when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield this Saturday. The Merseyside club have won just the one game in their last seven games in all competitions and even see themselves knocked out of the League Cup semi final against Southampton on Wednesday. Southampton will go on into the final and face Manchester United who beat Hull City over the two legs.

This FA Cup tie against the Championship side could be whats needed to get Liverpool back to winning ways yet if the last round is anything to go by could we potentially see them struggle? With them drawing at home to Plymouth Argyle in the 3rd round and then only winning 1 – 0 away from home in the replay it doesn’t exactly spell out good times at Liverpool right now. They have even lost their last league game at home to the struggling Swansea City!

With the above mentioned we do see the Championship club Wolves really struggling themselves in the league with them currently sitting very low in the table in eighteenth. The clubs last three league games however have had mixed results with them winning, drawing and losing once each. Completing the five last fixtures played will be the win in the FA Cup over Stoke City, as well as the home loss to Queens Park Rangers at the end of December.

With the away side here being in good form in the FA Cup, could we see Wolverhampton Wanderers complete another shock and knock out yet another Premier League club? The bookmakers are no fancying it however with the odds clearly in the home sides corner. After this FA Cup tie it’ll be bac to league action for Wolves who are yet to face Barnsley, Burton Albion, Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic.

Liverpool Team News:

Adam Lallana will be missing on Saturday as the midfielder had to have stitches due to a cut he got against Southampton in the League Cup semi-final. Apart from this injury we could see the return of Nathaniel Clyne who I am sure will be looking forward to getting back to some regular football.

Wolves Team News:

Carl Ikeme will be out due to serving a suspension and Andy Lonergan is out having recently returned from a serious knee injury. Wolves will also see stopper Harry Burgoyne step up and play with him looking to earn as first team place.

Liverpool v Wolves Head to Head Statistics:

In total the two clubs have met on 82 occasions where Liverpool have won 41 and lost the 27. Leaving a total of 14 draws with the last one seen back in 2010. Liverpool are the favourites to win this FA Cup encounter even though they themselves are struggling for wins.

In comparison it is in fact Liverpool who are in far better form with the Premiership club currently up in 4th position. Where is Wolves are struggling down in 18th in the Championships and if things don’t improve the could potentially be relegated. In the FA Cup however it is a different ball game with Wolves already knocking out Premiership opposition.

The Draw is a very good option I feel especially seeing as though Liverpool are struggling against most oppositions right now. Wolves maybe away from home but are still doing well in the competition. Liverpool v Wolves Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

FA Cup action this Saturday brings us Wolverhampton Wanderers away from home to Liverpool. With the game set at Anfield it can be viewed live on BT Sports 2, and of course in all its high definition glory. Liverpool are the bookmakers favourites to win this game, even though they have only won the one game in their last seven games played. That win was also only against Plymouth Argyle in the previous round, and even then it was a reply.

Now we already know that Wolverhampton Wanderers have knocked out Stoke City in the third round, could they now claim another Premiership scalp in the form of Liverpool? Now although the home side are in poor form they are still the solid favourites to win this game and end the clubs terrible run of form and I am sure if they fail to do so then fans will be in complete uproar.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are doing terrible in the Championship with them all the way down in eighteenth currently. The clubs FA Cup form however is good and I am sure they will be hoping to continue in this competition at the expense of Liverpool. The bookmakers may well be backing the home side to win, and I will be also in my banker. But I am also going to have a cheeky punt on the visitors going onto to live another day in the competition.

My predictions for this game are of course in favour of Liverpool to win, and that will be the case in my banker tip. For this I am going to go for both teams to score and for Liverpool to eventually win the game and end their terrible run of form. My next prediction will be for Wolves to actually win the game and shock the home crowd into even more misery. With the FA Cup potential exit I do then see Liverpool picking themselves up and getting back to winning ways in the league.
