Liverpool v Everton Preview, Premiership, Tuesday 28th January 2014

A huge game this on tuesday night and one that will go a very long way into deciding which of these two clubs will qualify for the Champions League next season.

Liverpool have the all important home advantage and will be confident of obtaining maxium points from this game with Everton having last beaten them at Anfield Stadium nearly 15 years ago and with Suarez and Sturridge leading the attack up front for the hosts, the Everton defence are obviously going to be in for a very difficult evening.

Everton have looked a much better side this season under the guidance of new manager Roberto Martinez and do have the players availalbe in their squad to win this game on tuesday night, especially with Liverpool having a number of injuries to key defenders and the Everton players and fans will be fully aware that they might not get a better chance to win this fixture than they do on tuesday night.

Liverpool Team News:

Liverpool boss Brendan Rogers has a number of casualties for this game with Glenn Johnson, Daniel Agger, Jose Enrique and Leiva Lucas all still out receiving treatment for respective injury problems. Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge will be the key force up front for the hosts and will be looking for their 34th partnership goal this season.

Everton Team News:

Everton manager Roberto Martinez also has some casualties to his squad and will be without the services of Ross Barkley, Bryan Oviedo, Darron Gibson, Gerard Deulofeu and Arouna Koné as they all continue to receive treatment for respective injury problems. Steven Naismith grabbed a brace in the 4-0 victory against Stevenage in the FA Cup over the weekend and could be handed a start up front alongside Lukaku.

Liverpool v Everton Head to Head Statistics:

Tuesday night’s game from Anfield Stadium will become the 181st meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Liverpool have won 70 times (39 at Anfield Stadium), Everton have won 52 times (21 at Anfield Stadium) and there has been 58 Draws (30 at the Anfield Stadium).

The previous 5 meetings below in our head to head statistics show Liverpool with a clear advantage having won 2 times with Everton having failed to win any and the remaining 3 games having finished all square.

23/11/13 PRL Everton – Liverpool 3 : 3
05/05/13 PRL Liverpool – Everton 0 : 0
28/10/12 PRL Everton – Liverpool 2 : 2
14/04/12 FAC Liverpool – Everton 2 : 1
13/03/12 PRL Liverpool – Everton 3 : 0

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

454 goals have been scored in the previous 180 games played between the two clubs which provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.52 and with there having been (234 goals scored at Anfield Stadium) from the previous 90 matches played there, we are provided with an average goals per game statistic of 2.60, which indicates that this game on tuesday night should see at least a couple of goals scored.

Liverpool v Everton Recent Form (Left to Right)

Liverpool: W W W D W

Everton: D W W D W

Both of these clubs have been in great form of late and both remain unbeaten during their last 5 matches played, but Liverpool take a slight advantage into this game having managed to win 4 of these, compared to Everton having only managed 3 wins.

Liverpool v Everton Match Betting Odds Market

Liverpool have not lost against Everton at Anfield Stadium since the 26th September 1999 and with the way Suarez and Sturridge are playing this season it does look unlikely that statistic will change come tuesday night, so no real surprise to see the online bookmakers making Liverpool the clear favourites to win this game at a best price of 17/20 with BetVictor (£25 Free Bets for New Customers).

The Draw will obviously be a popular choice for punters what with the last three matches between the two sides having finished all square and this can be backed at a best price of 14/5 with Stan James (£10 Free Bets for New Customers).

Everton always find winning at Anfield Stadium extremely difficult, but they do have the squad this season to win their first match in nearly fifteen years and I can see the visitors attracting some interest from punters at a best price of 7/2 with Paddy Power (£50 Free Bets for New Customers).

Liverpool v Everton Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

A very exciting game in store here and one that really could go either way on the night despite Liverpool having dominated this fixture since 1999.

Everton are playing some excellent stuff at the moment and with having no problems scoring goals this season I would expect Roberto Martinez’s side to get at least one during this game on tuesday night.

Liverpool have a whole host of injury problems in their squad and will be missing some key players from their defence for this game with Glenn Johnson, Daniel Agger and Luis Enrique all unavailable and this will be a major concern to their manager Brendan Rogers.

However, where they lack in defence they certainly make up for in attack, as with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge having already scored 33 goals between them up front this season it would come as a major surprise to see Liverpool not scoring in this game and for me they do have the much stronger attack than Everton do.

The head to head statistics are firmly in Liverpool’s favour here and with the average goals per game statistics suggesting this match to see at least a couple of goals scored, betting markets like Total Match Goals 2 or 3 and Both Teams to Score YES already stand out, but I’m going to go for this one to follow suit on recent meetings between the two clubs and finish all square come the full time whistle.
