Sunderland v Newcastle Preview, Premiership, Sunday 27th October 2013

With Sunderland now under the new management of Gus Poyet who takes charge of his first Wear-Tyne derby as well as his first Premiership game it is once again a big risk by Sunderland bosses after the last Premiership new boy failed even though bought in an incredible large amount of new players. So not it is left for Poyet to try and unlock Sunderland’s team of players who clearly have not had the time needed to gel together in time to make an impact. If Sunderland do manage to grab a much needed first win this term it could certainly kick start their campaign which will now be to avoid relegation to the Championship.

Newcastle however have no care for Sunderland’s bad start and tricky situation being the Black Cats bitter rivals for as long as time can tell, and they will look to pile on the misery as they look to continue their good form after a win against Cardiff City and the 2 – 2 draw against Liverpool last weekend. This game will not only be about the 3 points for Newcastle, they will be looking for revenge after last years 3 – 0 defeat and will hope to walk away with the bragging rights and why not as fans will still be bitter after losing so bad at St James’ Park.

Sunderland v Newcastle Team News

Sunderland Team News:

Much talk about Wes Brown this week as he hopes to make his first competitive game for the club in nearly 21 months after suffering from a calf injury in pre-season. With midfielder Ki Sung-yueng also now able to play after being ineligible against Swansea City last weekend in which Sunderland suffered a heavy 4 – 0 defeat away from home.

Newcastle Team News:

Club Captain Fabricio Coloccini remains sidelined after still recovering from a groin injury which will no doubt leave manager Alan Pardew with a headache in who to select to replace him and that will partner Mike Williamson in the back four. Steven Taylor looks set to get the nod to start ahead of Paul Dummett who last week came off the bench to score after Mbwia was sent off and will also miss this game due to suspension which leaves Ryan Taylor as Newcastle’s only long term injury.

Sunderland v Newcastle Recent Form (Left to Right)

Newcastle: D W L W L

Sunderland are in a bad place right now with only two wins this season, both of them being League Cup wins against lesser sides, but could this be their first league win with it being a derby it could be whats needed to push them onto better things.

Sunderland v Newcastle Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

I can imagine every neutral cheering on Sunderland here as they look to secure their first premiership win this season after suffering a dreadful start under the now departed Paulo Di Canio. Which has now opened the doors to another potential flop Gus Poyet who is also an untested Premiership manager. But who knows, the guy could make a huge impact and what a game to do it in which if pulled off would instantly gain the fans admiration and respect but it will be an incredible task as Newcastle come off the back of two impressive results recently with the more current being the 2 – 2 draw away to Liverpool at the weekend.

So who to back here? My money would have to be on Newcastle to continue piling the misery onto a Sunderland side who continue in search of their first win. So I am going for a 3 – 1 Newcastle United win and also for Loic Remy to score first as he aims to continue his fine form of 5 goals in 6 games. The French striker looks happy out on loan from Queens Park Rangers who themselves are doing well in the Championship.
