Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool Preview, Premiership, Saturday 27th August 2016.

It’s the third weekend action for the Premier League with there being some fantastic games to be viewed including the likes of both Manchester clubs, as well as West Ham United and new comers Middlesbrough. Saturday lunchtimes kickoff however will witness Londoners Tottenham Hotspurs verses Liverpool in what should be an exceptional fixture.

Spurs started off this season hoping for an away win to Everton but instead found themselves coming up short with a 1 – 1 draw, and then only just managed a later winner against Crystal Palace when Victor Wanyama slotted home. Tottenham Hotspurs will of course want to win yet I can imagine more important would be to not lose as we have already seen their opponents become very unpredictable in recent weeks.

The visitors Liverpool were shocking last weekend with them losing to recently promoted Burnley 2 – 0 which will not of pleased the management and supporters. Especially after they beat Arsenal the week before in that 4 – 3 thriller of a game away from home which will no doubt be a game to watch many years to come yet.

Liverpool have recovered from their recent loss to Burnley with them demolishing Burton Albion in the League Cup and now face Championship side Derby County away from home in the next round. A few tough games coming up for Liverpool with a home fixture against current champions Leicester City and away to Chelsea in which they are still in with a chance of earning some points.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News:

Deli Ali has been ill recently and could potentially return to start or play against Liverpool this Saturday. He did make the bench last weekend but does seem to have fully recovered since. The club are still without their number one goalkeeper Hugo Lloris (hamstring), so Michel Vorm will once again step up and be selected. Another player out is Mousa Dembele who is currently suspended.

Liverpool Team News:

Liverpool will be without the German Emre Can who suffered an ankle injury against Burton Albion in the League Cup, even though the injury has been deemed light I can’t see the club risking the player. Philippe Coutinho is a doubt with a minor hamstring issue while Divock Origi and Joel Matip are hoping to feature.

Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five games played against each other we do see that Liverpool come out on top with three wins and a couple of more recent draws. The two have featured against each other on 149 occasions with Liverpool dominating with 69 wins, 38 draws and 42 loses yet we do know Tottenham Hotspurs do seem to be a club on the up especially after last season.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 149 games played out between the two we have seen a total of 408 goals scored which is going to give us a goals per game average of 2.7. Now even though the last five games suggest otherwise I do believe the average to be more truthful when these two meet on Saturday, so the below selection I feel would be a good option.

Tottenham Hotspur: W D W L L

Liverpool: W L W L W

In the last five games played it is Liverpool who are the side in better form with three wins and two loses, although we must remember the loss was against newly promoted Burnley. Spurs on the other hand have yet to lose any of their opening two games with a draw and a recent win against Crystal Palace.

Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool Match Betting Odds Market

Tottenham Hotspur at home are of course the bookmakers favourites to win this encounter, although they must play at their best considering Liverpool’s history against them. The Draw has been the result in the last two games played and there is of course a solid chance we could see a third come Saturday when the two meet. Best odds on the two sharing the spoils can be found here @ 23/10 with Coral – Deposit £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets when Registering a New Account

Liverpool are considered to be the team in better form yet that to me means nothing when looking at who they have won and lost against (excluding Arsenal). Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premiership action this Saturday Lunchtime comes live via Sky Sports 1 High Definition and features Tottenham Hotspurs hosting Liverpool at White Hart Lane. Both clubs have experienced a win this season yet because of the clubs draw to Everton we do see Spurs one point higher than Liverpool who lost last week to newly promoted side Burnley.

Tottenham Hotspurs have a tough game against Stoke City away from home coming up after hosting Liverpool and will then welcome France’s Monaco to White Hart Lane as Spurs look to make a name for themselves in the Champions League group stages. It will be a tough group for the London club who also face German side Bayer Leverkusen and CSKA Moskva.

Liverpool as we know missed out on Europe this season although could of made it if they hadn’t had lost to Sevilla in the Europa League final last season. With them failing to qualify for any Europe competitions this season it will no doubt be a priority for Jurgen Klopp come the end of the season in May. Liverpool will next play champions Leicester City and Chelsea before making a trip to Derby County in the League Cup.

My predictions for this game is leaning more towards a draw and I do feel we will of course see some goals on the day. But then if there are goals then the chances are high we could also see a potential winner on the day, breaking that possible three game in a row draw prediction. Anyway I feel going for Spurs to win with both teams to score is a fine option, especially if Coutinho fails to play for Liverpool
