West Ham United v Sunderland Preview, Premiership, Saturday 27th February 2016.

West Ham United this season are once again flying high and fighting strong in the Premiership and FA Cup competitions. In the league the club are just seven points off of Manchester City who currently hold that forth place Champions League spot and only the one point off Manchester United who are in fifth, the Europa League spot.

In the FA Cup they have also done exceptionally well having recently put out Liverpool 2 – 1 with extra time. They now face Manchester United in the quarter finals at Old Trafford in search of some silverware, an achievement not been seen is a fair few years. West Ham will know they are the favourites to win Saturday lunchtime, but must be wary as Sunderland are fighting for survival.

Sunderland experienced something a couple of weeks ago that must seem strange. They managed to beat Manchester United at home, something that hasn’t been done in some time. The win seriously helped the club claw back some points and now continues to put the pressure on Norwich City and Newcastle United.

If Sunderland manage a win away from home to West Ham United, it will no doubt leave them high in confidence to face Crystal Palace, Southampton and bitter rivals Newcastle United in the coming weeks. If they wish to continue playing within the Premier League then wins are a must and the next few opponents will be a great opportunity to climb out of the relegation zone.

West Ham United Team News:

Good news for the home side who welcome back Cheikhou Kouyate after being red carded recently. The offense was overturned when the club appealed so can feature this Saturday. Winston Reid and Diafra Sakho are unlikely to play as they have recently returned from injuries, yet Andy Carroll is once again available.

Sunderland Team News:

Sunderland have had their fair share of injuries yet have recently seen a number of players return and available for selection. Younes Kaboul, Jan Kirchhoff, Sebastian Larsson and Billy Jones are those players who have recently returned yet Duncan Watmore and Jeremain Lens are out due to being injured.

Sunderland this season have once again been extremely poor with them loitering in the relegation zone most of the season. West Ham United however have done exceptionally well once again and continue to fight for a top four spot, as well as within the FA Cup having recently knocked out Liverpool.

West Ham United v Sunderland Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premier League action this Saturday will be seen live on BT Sports 1 and in High Definition on the available channels. We see home side West Ham United look to continue their good run of form with a solid win over opponents Sunderland who themselves will be looking for three points and potentially see them climb out of the relegation zone.

West Ham United have been rather solid recently having only lost the one game in their last five games which was away from home to Southampton who are currently level on points. We see West Ham come into this game off the back of a 5 – 1 thrashing of Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup 6th round, and now face Manchester United away from home mid March.

Sunderland managed to beat Manchester United at home in their last league game, and fully deserved it. But if they wish to avoid the drop into the Championship then they must improve their form both home and away with them only winning once in the last five league games played. A win however unlikely on Saturday will see them climb out of the red zone, however temporally it may be until their rivals play.

Sunderland’s next few games they really do need to be taking points from if they wish to survive, with Crystal Palace at home next they then travel to Southampton and bitter rivals Newcastle United who are also in the same relegation fighting situation. With the game against Everton postponed the fifth fixture is at home to West Bromwich Albion in which really does need to be a win.

My predictions for this game does however not see Sunderland win and continue their survival, with the game actually ending with West Ham United winning with a two goal margin as my banker. The next I am going for is Dimitri Payet to continue his fine for and become an anytime goalscorer. West Ham must be thrilled to have such a player signed on a long term contract, with I can only imagine plenty of transfer attention coming his way come Summer.
