Hull City v Manchester City, Premiership, Monday 26th December

Things are looking terrible for Hull City right now when them firmly routed to the bottom of the table. Could we be seeing a repeat of the last two times they won promotion into the Premiership and instantly returned to the Championship? Although they are at home on Boxing Day I cannot see them beating this Manchester City side who are currently fighting it out among the top three heavyweights.

Hull City’s last league win was at home back at the beginning of November. it was when Southampton came to visit and were shocked with a 2 – 1 loss. Since then the newly promoted side have lost four and drawn two Premier League fixtures. Although they have managed to win once in their last five fixtures, which was on penalties against Newcastle United in the League Cup at the end of last month.

Manchester City themselves have suffered a blip in their Premiership title hopes with loses to Champions Leicester City and before that Chelsea. They have however since recovered with a well earned win over Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal and Watford who are sitting around mid-table. They have also played a Champions League match in their last five fixtures, which was at home to Celtic who managed to take a point in the process.

Regardless of the draw Manchester City did win qualification into the knock out stages where they now face French side Monaco at the end of February. The next five games for City see them in with a chance to grab full points in three of the four league games they have. Hull City, Burnley and Everton shouldn’t be too much of a problem, it’ll be Liverpool that will be the tough one. They then face West Ham United in the FA Cup come January.

Hull City Team News:

Ryan Mason is a hopeful for Hull City with the midfielder shaking off a knock. Hernandez will be out for another few weeks yet with a groin strain while Moses Odubajo, Will Keane, Allan McGregor, Greg Luer and Alex Bruce are all still in recovery.

Manchester City Team News:

Manchester City will likely be missing full back Zabaleta who has a knee issue. The clubs captain Vincent Kompany is also out with his knee while Fabian Delph has a groin strain. Long term absentee Ilkay Gundogan is another who is suffering with a serious knee injury. Sergio Aguero has one more match to serve on his suspension, while Fernandinho returns from a three game suspension.

Hull City v Manchester City Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head encounters it is pretty much Manchester City who have dominated. With four wins and the draw in the 2014/15 season it is what we come to expect from the title chasing side. In total we only have nine meetings between the two clubs, where Hull City have only manage to win the once compared to Manchester City’s five victories. Meaning there have been three draws altogether.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the nine games played against each other we have seen a total of thirty two goals scored. This is going to give us a goals per game average of 3.5 which always seems to be a hit and miss figure when looking at the above table. For Boxing Day I am going to go with my gut and support the below option.

Manchester City: W W L D L

Hull City are in dire form right now and currently sit bottom of the Premiership table on twelves points. Unless they start winning games we can no doubt see them relegated once again. Manchester City seem to have got over their own blip in form with a win over Arsenal and Watford. The best odds on them winning this away fixture can be seen below –

Hull City v Manchester City Match Betting Odds Market

Hull City are at home for this game and in my opinion have little to no chance of winning this match. The bookmakers agree with me here when looking at their best odds on offer. The Draw is what I feel is the best option for home side Hull City as their current form surely doesn’t suggest they have a win in them. Best off the bookmakers odd for the draw can be seen coming in here @ 9/2 with Skybet – Deposit £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets when Registering a New Account

Hull City v Manchester City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Monday evening football brings us a cracker with home side Hull City set to welcome title chasing Manchester City to the KCOM Stadium. The game on Boxing Day can be seen live via Sky Sports 1 and of course in the High Definition we’ve come t expect. We do of course see the visitors Manchester City as the clear favourites for the win, even though they have managed to lose two of their last five league matches.

Hull City will be relegated this season unless they do manage to start picking up points either home of away. The clubs next five fixtures see them face Everton and West Bromwich Albion in which I cannot see them winning. Then once the three Premier League games are out of the way they have Swansea City in the FA Cup and then Manchester United in the League Cup at Old Trafford, another I cannot see them winning.

Manchester City may of lost against Chelsea and the Champions Leicester City recently, but have since bounced back with full points taken at home against Watford and more recently Arsenal. they have Liverpool next which could be a tough match away from home, but do then travel to Burnley which should be a routine win. Another away fixture in the league see’s them face Everton, but before that it will be a trip to West Ham United in the FA Cup.

My predictions for this game will of course be that of backing the away side of taking all three points. I just cannot see Hull City taking anything from this match even though they are at home. I am going to go for Manchester City to win this game to nil as I feel it’s a solid banker option come Monday. My next is going to be for Manchester City to score four or more goals on the night, I know it’s a little high but then this is a side who could certainly do so against weak opposition.
