Tottenham Hotspur v Stoke City Preview, Premiership, 26th February 2017

The situation got worse for Tottenham Hotspurs this week where they were knocked out of the Europa League by Belgian side Gent 3 – 2 on aggregate. With Spurs losing 1 – 0 away from home they then slipped up at home and allowed their opponents to score a couple of goals which forced the draw. With the clubs last Premier League game ending in a loss to Liverpool we can pretty much imagine the London club want to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

Tottenham Hotspurs opponents Stoke City are in a hit or miss kind of form right now so could surprise Spurs who themselves seem to be struggling. That said however we should see the home side as winners on Sunday with them next to face Everton at White Hart Lane. After this they should of played Crystal Palace away which has been postponed. Meaning they then get to enjoy another two fixtures at home.

Stoke City have been doing well recently having only lost the one game in their last five, that being away from home to West Bromwich Albion 1 – 0 beginning of February. This fixture against Tottenham Hotspurs will not be an easy one even though Spurs are a little down on their luck recently in regards to their own form. That said Stoke City still come into this game as the clear underdogs and will struggle to earn anything more than a draw.

Some tough games coming up for Mark Hughes side with an away visit to Manchester City and a home tie against current leaders Chelsea. In between these they do also face Middlesbrough at home which they should win, as well as an away fixture against last years champions Leicester City, who to be honest are in dire needs and with them recently sacking their manager it could be another win for Stoke City.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News :

Once again we see Spurs without Erik Lamela, with the attacker continuing his recovery. Also out again is defender Danny Rose with a knee injury, so likely we will see Ben Davies play in the left back position.

Stoke City Team News :

Defender Phil Bardsley is missing after limping off against Crystal Palace, while Xherdan Shaqiri is set to make his return having recovered from a calf strain. Striker Saido Berahino could make his first start for his new club which will be a huge boost for the away side here. Geoff Cameron and Jonathan Walters are close to their return, with them having recovered from a knee issue previously.

Although Tottenham Hotspurs are playing better football this season, and with them sitting higher up in the table, it is in fact Stoke City who are the better team in form here with that extra draw. The home side are however the solid favourites to win this game.

Tottenham Hotspur v Stoke City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premier League action this Sunday lunchtime comes live via Sky Sports 1 High Definition in which we get to see Tottenham Hotspurs set to face Stoke City at White Hart Lane. Although the London club have said playing at Wembley doesn’t effect them their form there in Europe clearly hasn’t been any good. Yet at White Hart Lane Spurs are solid with them being the only side yet to lose at home this season.

With Tottenham Hotspurs now out of the Europa League they only have the Premier League and FA Cup left to challenge in, with them having a solid chance against Millwall at home to go into the next round. They are still third in the Premier League table and currently thirteen points behind Chelsea in the title run. Manchester City are just two points ahead of them so with a win against Stoke City we could see them jump up into second.

Stoke City have been doing well recently with only the one loss in their last five games played in all competitions, they have also moved up the table into ninth which I am sure they will be hoping to stay the same with not losing to Spurs. A win will see them close the gap to West Bromwich Albion with them currently behind them by eight points. Although a win is unlikely I am sure they will do all they can to at least come out of this game with something.

My predictions for this game are to favour that of Spurs, in which I am going to go for a home win. With that I plan to take Tottenham Hotspurs to win the game by a two goal margin which is giving some good odds right now. The next I am going to go for is a correct score of 2 – 0 to Tottenham Hotspurs with them set to get back to winning ways. I do think Stoke City have goals in them, but for this I am going to take the above.
