Everton v Young Boys Preview, Europa League, Last 32 2nd Leg, Thursday 26th February 2015.

Everton will head into this 2nd Leg game on Thursday night with confidence flowing through out the whole squad after their 4-1 demolition of Young Boys in the 1st Leg over at the Stade de Suisse last week and that result will certainly have been a huge shock to the relatively unknown side from Switzerland as it does mean that the visitors need an absolute miracle to stay in this competition.

However, with Young Boys having crushed league leaders Basel 4-2 at home last weekend their confidence has certainly been restored and it would of received a further boost with them having seen Everton struggle to a 2-2 draw at home against relegation threatened Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.

Everton certainly have a clear advantage, but an early first goal by the visitors could see this tie going to the wire as I fully expect Young Boys to throw caution to the wind on Thursday night and go for the impossible and this should result in a very exciting game indeed.

Everton Team News:

Aiden McGeady, Leon Osman, Steven Pienaar, Tony HIbbert and Bryan Oviedo are all major doubts for this game, but John Stones definitely misses out as he serves a suspension. Arouna Kone will be hoping to get a rare start due to the emphatic win over in Switzerland last week, but may have to once again be happy with a place on the bench after Romelu Lukaku bagged himself a hat-trick in that game.

Young Boys Team News:

No fresh injuries or suspension for the hosts, so expect to see the same starting eleven that beat FC Basel over the weekend just gone 4-2. Vitkieviez, Zarate and Von Ballmoos all look unlikely to feature. Guillaume Hoarau who scored the opening goal of the 4-1 defeat last week will once again lead the attack up front and having scored again in the 4-2 win against FC Basel at the weekend, he will no doubt be in confident mood of adding at least another one to his tally during this match..

Everton v Young Boys Head to Head Statistics:

Thursday night’s game will become just the 2nd meeting between the two clubs overall, the first having come last week at the Stade de Suisse in which Everton came away as comfortable 4-1 winners.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

5 Goals were scored in that first ever meeting between the two clubs last week and provides us with an average goals per game statistic of 5.00.

I don’t expect this game to see 5 goals scored on Thursday night, but if Young Boys did manage to score the first goal of this game, then I would expect to see at least 3 grace the back of the nets.

Everton v Young Boys Match Betting Odds Market

Everton came away from the 1st Leg with a very impressive 4-1 victory and as such are the clear odds on favourites to win this game on Thursday night and are currently a best price of 4/6 with Coral – Bet £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets for New Customers.

The Draw is currently available at a best price of 11/4 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets for New Customers, and does look worth getting on as your main cover option as it does look value despite the 4-1 thrashing Everton handed to Young Boys last week.

Young Boys did receive a bit of a Premiership lesson last week, but they bounced back last weekend with a victory over current league leaders Basel 4-2 and that result will certainly have them in the mood to try and turn around this tie and their current best price is available at 9/2 with Betfred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets for New Customers.

Everton v Young Boys Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Everton will no doubt be quite happy to sit back and soak up the pressure at the start of this game as with Young Boys trailing the hosts by 3 goals, it does look as though Roberto Martinez’s side have one foot already in the next phase of the tournament.

However, you have to be impressed by the way Young Boys have responded to that 4-1 defeat least week as to go and beat the current league leaders Basel by 4-2 last weekend does show that this squad has the players, ability and fight to try and get back into this game and as I said earlier in the preview, if the visitors manager to score the first goal of this game, I can definitely see them getting more and Everton would certainly have to be at their very best to secure their place in the last 16.

The average goals per game statistics are expecting plenty of goals to be scored based on 5 hitting the back of the nets last weekend in the first leg and I do think it’s possible for this game to see at least a few if the visitors come to goodison park with the same sort of mental attitude as they showed in their victory at home against Basel.

As such my Banker Prediction for this game is going to be for Young Boys to cause a bit of a shock and win this game as for me Everton seem to falter when playing at home in front of their home fans and if the visitors did manage to score that all important first goal of the game and can definitely see them going on to score more and getting right back in this tie.

My Saver is going to be for Young Boys striker Guillaume Hoarau to Score at Anytime during this game as he managed to open the scoring in the first leg last week for his side and also scored in the 4-2 win against Basel last weekend and at his current odds on offer, this does look tremendous value.
