Middlesbrough v Norwich City Preview, Championship Play-Off Final, Monday 25th May 2015.

Middlesbrough were so close to automatic promotion it seems a little harsh that they just missed out due to a slight dip in form come the end of the season. Yet since then they have picked it up again and sent Brentford packing with an easy 5 – 1 aggregate over the two legs. Middlesbrough will know this will be their toughest test as it is Norwich City who are the bookmakers favourites to progress and win promotion into the Premier League elite. The Championship is one of the toughest leagues around right now and as many as four different teams could of won it in the last few games of the season.

Norwich City are the bookmakers favourites to win on Monday night even though it is only ever so slightly. They finished in third place in the table and if a couple of results ended differently at the end of the season then it would of been Norwich City as champions and not Bournemouth. The away leg against Ipswich Town started off well when Norwich City took the lead four minutes before the break, only for them to let slip and concede the equaliser just before the half time whistle. The second leg at Carrow Road was a lot more fruitful for Norwich City with the game ending 3 – 1 in their favour.

Middlesbrough Team News:

The Championship player of the year Patrick Bamford missed out in the second leg against Brentford with an ankle injury and could also be a doubt for this final game. If absent then Kike will no doubt start up front in his place. Lewis Grabban is now back from suspension after being sent off against Rotherham United.

Norwich City Team News:

Norwich City manager Alex Neil has very little injury worries although he does welcome back Lewis Grabban after the striker was sent off against Rotherham United.

Middlesbrough v Norwich City Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Championship play off final action on Monday night can be seen live on Sky Sports 1 High Definition and will be played at our more famous ground, Wembley Stadium. The game promises to be one massive event as two very strong sides come head to head for that final place in the Premiership next season.

Both clubs did have a dip in form come the end of the season and both dropped between four and six points each. Meaning if things were different then any of these two sides could of won the league themselves instead of champions Bournemouth. Middlesbrough are the slightly better team in form in their last five games with that extra win, yet it is Norwich City who are the bookmakers favourites to win come Monday.

My predictions for this game will back both sides one way or the other, as the game is so tight it is far to close to call. So for the first I am going to go with a 2 – 1 win by Norwich City which could be a nice option given the odds available. The next I am going for is Kike to score and Middlesbrough to win the game.
