Manchester City v Aston Villa Preview, Premiership, Saturday 25th April 2015

Manchester City have had a season to forget as not only have they lost any chance of defending their Premiership title, they have it all to do in the final few weeks to qualify for a Champions League spot for next season and although they did bounce back to form last weekend against West Ham United, any dropped points from here on in could see the multi-million pound squad come up short and the importance of winning this game on Saturday evening is vital.

Aston Villa defied the odds last weekend with a historic victory in the semi-final of the FA Cup over Liverpool 2-1 and new manager Tim Sherwood really has got the players playing again after a difficult time with Paul Lambert in charge and the whole squad will see this game as one they can definitely win and with the confidence high, the visitors are capable of adding to Manchester City’s woes by winning this game.

Manchester City Team News:

The hosts wil definitely be without skipper Vincent Kompany as the player receives treatment for a thigh injury that looks likely to see him miss the rest of the season. Samir Nasri (leg), James Milner (knee), Stevan Jovetic (muscular), Gael Clichy (groin) and Wilfried Bony (ankle) are all major doubts and will be assessed before the game to see if any of them can be involved.

Aston Villa Team News:

The visitors will be without the services of Ciaran Clark and Nathan Baker (both knee), as they continue to receive treatment. Gabriel Agbonlahor is a doubt having missed last weekend’s semi final victory against Liverpool, but the good news for Villa fans is that both Aly Cissokho and Philippe Senderos are back in contention having now fully recovered from respective injury related problems.

Manchester City v Aston Villa Head to Head Statistics:

Manchester City v Aston Villa Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Manchester City looked a bit more like their usual self last weekend when beating West Ham United 2-0, but the loss of captain Vincent Kompany is a major blow for the club and with a number of injuries to other key players, it does seem the hosts will need to be foot perfect on Saturday evening if they are to continue winning ways.

Aston Villa will be brimming with confidence having reached the Final of the FA Cup after a thrilling 2-1 victory against Liverpool last weekend and with Christian Benteke once again on the score-sheet that day he will no doubt be a major threat for the Manchester City defence to deal with.

Tim Sherwood has done an incredible job since taking over from Paul Lambert a manager that in my opinion just didn’t seem to get enough out of his players and the visitors are certainly not without a chance of causing a big upset come Saturday evening.

The average goals per game statistics are expecting this match to see plenty of goals grace the back of the nets and as such my Banker prediction for this game is going to be Both Teams to Score as I really do see Aston Villa getting at least one.

My Saver is going to be for Ya Ya Toure to get his name on the score-sheet at anytime as with the player having come under a bit of stick recently from pundits, he will be eager to put in a good performance and with the midfielder having scored in his last three matches against Aston Villa, he does look good value to keep that record going.
