Arsenal v Everton Preview, Premiership, Saturday 24th October 2015

Arsenal will head into this game on Saturday evening brimming with confidence having put the mighty Bayern Munich to the sword midweek in their UEFA Champions League victory which they won 2-0, that result now has Arsenal right back in the hunt to qualify from the group, which seemed a lost cause after they lost their first two matches and all the Arsenal players will be wanting to continue where they left off midweek in this home match against Everton.

Everton suffered a humbling 3-0 defeat in their last match last weekend at home against Manchester United and it did seem that manager Roberto Martinez had his tactics all wrong for that game as he tried to use the counter attack style of play instead of keeping to the more attacking type of football that Everton have been successful with this season and if Martinez once again opts to try and defend deep and hit on the counter attack again in this game, I can only see a similar outcome for the visitors.

Arsenal Team News:

Arsenal will be missing Aaron Ramsey as the midfielder faces at least three weeks out because of a hamstring injury. Centre-back Gabriel is available again following illness, but captain Mikel Arteta (ankle) misses out against his former club.

Goalkeeper David Ospina (shoulder) is not available, while Jack Wilshere (fibula), forward Danny Welbeck and Czech midfielder Tomas Rosicky (both knee) all continue their rehabilitation.

Everton Team News:

Everton midfielder Tom Cleverley could make his first-team return having played 60 minutes of an U21 match on Tuesday, in his first run-out since sustaining an ankle injury in August.

With winger Steven Pienaar also nearing a comeback after featuring in Tuesday’s contest and full-back Leighton Baines among a group of other players making good progress in their rehabilitation, Roberto Martinez says he is “very close” to having a full squad.

Arsenal v Everton Head to Head Statistics:

Saturday evening’s game from the Emirates Stadium will become the 193rd meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Arsenal have won 95 with 65 of those having came with home advantage where as Everton have managed 55 victories, with just 16 of those having came away from home.

As we can see from our head to head statistics table below which shows the last five meetings between the two clubs, it has been Arsenal who have dominated recent proceedings having managed to win 3 times compared to Everton having won just the 1 with the remaining game finishing all square.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

549 Goals have been scored in the previous 192 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.86.

291 of those Goals have came in the 97 previous matches played at the Emirates Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of exactly 3.00.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to indicate that this game should see a minimum of at least two goals scored with the hosts doing most of the scoring, although Everton could possibly get one if Martinez goes with a more attacking formation.

Arsenal v Everton Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Arsenal have a very good record against Everton with home advantage and after their emphatic 2-0 victory midweek against probably one of the best sides in the world, I certainly see them continuing the celebrations with a win in this one.

Everton need to be more attacking if they are to stand any real hope of coming away from north London with anything as from what I have seen of them this season, they do look a much better side when they play on the front foot and have players like Deulofeu, Naismith and Kone playing.

However, I would expect Martinez to once again go with a similar side and tactics that he did last weekend at home in their 3-0 defeat against Manchester City with the result a very similar score line to how that game ended.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker Free Tip is going to be Arsenal -1 Goal on the Asian Handicap as I just don’t see Everton’s defence being able to cope with the Arsenal midfield and attack.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip will be for Oliver Giroud to Score the First Goal of the game as the French striker has now scored in both of his last two matches and will be keen to show his manager that he should be the clubs number one striker.
