Chelsea v Sunderland Preview, Premiership, Sunday 24th May 2015.

English Premiership Champions Chelsea come into this game on the back of a rare defeat to West Bromwich Albion, and it can no doubt go down to when they lost their cool during the match. Cesc Fabregas see red just before the half hour mark when he appeared to kick the ball purposely into a crowd of West Brom players and the referee in which it hit a player square in the head. Chelsea were already 1 – 0 down before hand and going a man down didn’t help as they then lost the game 3 – 0. A win on Sunday will no doubt be on the cards now Sunderland are safe from the drop, which will also mark an amazing gap between them and Manchester City who finished in second place.

Sunderland come into this game completely safe from relegation now that they earned a well fought goalless draw away to Arsenal. Sunderland studied how Swansea City had played them and defended resolutely as the onslaught continued for a majority of the match. Every now and then Sunderland caught Arsenal on the break and came close on a number of occasions and could of even come away with an away win. Sunderland now join Aston Villa as a team one point outside of the relegation scrap and leaves Newcastle United and Hull City both needing a win. Although if both do win Hull City will still be relegated.

Chelsea Team News:

Chelsea have a number of injuries with two players a doubt for Sundays game, those two are Petr Cech (calf) and Eden Hazard (tooth ache). Out for the rest of the season are Oscar (thigh), Ramires (illness) and Kurt Zouma (knee)

Sunderland Team News:

Sunderland are without a few players for this last game of the season with Jozy Altidore still missing with an illness. Costel Pantilimon (knee) and Daniel Graham (ankle) are both injured while Ricardo Alvarez (knee) is out for the season. Wes Brown (knee) and Jordi Gomez (knee) out until end of May and June.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 108 games played out between these two Premiership sides, there have been a total of 360 goals scored which is going to give us a goals per game average of 3.3. Which by looking at the above only the most recent game throws that out. However I would still go for something along those guidelines and even the below option could be a good selection.

Sunderland: D D W W D

Incredibly enough it is actually Sunderland who are the better team in form recently even though it is minor pickings. Chelsea have just smashed the Premier League and ended up as clear Champions, while their opponents only just managed to avoid the relegation drop in the game against Arsenal.

Chelsea v Sunderland Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Premiership action this Sunday is mainly now all about Hull City and Newcastle United as the two aim desperately to avoid the relegation drop. Sunderland would of also been in this fight but actually managed to earn a solid point against Arsenal away from home on Wednesday. This game featuring Chelsea verses Sunderland can be seen live on Sky 1 HD and comes to us from the Bridge.

Chelsea have already won the league a couple of weeks back now and have recently been playing a few youngsters to give them all a run out. That fact however wasn’t the reason they lost 3 – 0 against West Bromwich Albion, as early on the lost Cesc Fabregas after he see red for kicking a ball full belt into a West Brom players head. Sunderland were great against Arsenal and defended so well it earned them the point they needed to avoid the relegation battle due today.

My predictions for this game will be to back Chelsea for one good result, while the other will be a draw of some kind. So for the first I plan to take Loic Remy to score and Chelsea to win which is giving some positive odds. The other I am going for is both teams to score in the game, and for it to end up as a draw. Sunderland do have fire power with the likes of Defoe and Fletcher so you just never know as they clearly did catch Arsenal on the break on more than one occasion.
