Everton v Swansea City Preview, Premiership, Sunday 24th January 2016.

Sundays lunchtime kickoff comes at Goodison Park and witnesses two sides struggling in the Premier League this season which is something we haven’t seen for some time with the two usually well safe of any danger come the end of the season. Everton are however doing far better than their opponents Swansea City and although they are just slightly below middle of the table they are seven points better off. If Newcastle United had won against Watford today then they would of put Swansea City down into the relegation zone, much to the disappointment of the fans. Everton are favourites to win at home on Sunday and doing so could see them head up into tenth on joint points with Watford. From there if they continue winning they will be fighting it out with a few sides such as Stoke City, Liverpool and Southampton.

Swansea City are in serious trouble and although I didn’t agree with the sacking of Gary Monk we can clearly see new management hasn’t exactly done the trick, regardless of how little time they have had. They did manage a win last Monday against Watford which has kept the club out of the relegation zone and it was the clubs first win this year after losing the last three games on the trot two Manchester United, Oxford United and Sunderland at home. This and the next four games are going to be a tough test for the Welsh club with Swansea City and out of form Crystal Palace the only likely fixtures they will earn points out of. Unless they do of course go into the game and shock teams such as Southampton and Tottenham Hotspurs. I am a firm believer that Swansea City wont be one of the three sides to go down into the Championship come the end of the season, but if things don’t continue to improve then I for certain could be very wrong.

Everton Team News:

I’ve heard Everton have seen the return of Seamus Coleman (calf) and James McCarthy (groin) this week although it is only training so very doubtful they will have anything to do with Sundays clash against Swansea City. Tom Cleverly was an unused sub last weekend against Chelsea and could feature at some point with Bryan Oviedo and Steven Pienaar also in contention to start.

Swansea City Team News:

This will be Swansea City’s new manager Francesco Guidolin’s first game in charge on Sunday and it is likely the Italian will stick with the same team selected that beat Watford last Monday night. With no injuries to contend with we do see Swansea City with a completely clean injury slate. Something that is rare in the Premiership currently.

Everton v Swansea City Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five games played both sides have experienced just one win each with the last three games played all ending is low scoring draws. We only have 15 games recorded between the two Premiership clubs with Everton enjoying a majority of the wins with nine. Swansea City have only won on the one occasions which was in 2014 in the Capital One Cup competition. The two sides have also drawn five times, three of them the last lot of games played.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the fifteen games we do have recorded there have been a total of 38 goals scored. This is going to give us a goals per game average of 2.5 which as you can see above, is very hit and miss. That said with the way both clubs are playing and conceding i believe the below option could be a good one for Sundays clash.

Everton: D D W W D

Swansea City: W L L L D

Swansea City may of won their last fixture against Watford, but are still far from being safe from the drop unless things really do improve. Everton have been a disappointment this season yet a win on Sunday could see them climb to mid-table on thirty two points. They are of course the favourites to win, yet with the last three games to ponder over could we really be looking at another draw?

Everton v Swansea City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premiership action on Sunday comes live on Sky Sports 1 High Definition and features home side Everton verses Swansea City who look to continue their Premiership survival after a win against in form Watford last Monday. Everton however have slightly improved recently and I only say this because they have managed to now go five games without a win. On top of that they did beat Manchester City away from home in the Capital One Cup semi final first leg and then also drew away from home to them in the Premier League just a week later. They were leading Chelsea 2 – 0 away from home only to eventually draw the fixture 3 – 3 with two goals scored in the 90th minute.

Swansea City themselves have waited a while for a win this year with them losing to Manchester United, Oxford United and Sunderland. But somehow did manage to beat in form Watford at home 1 – 0 which has kept them out of the drop zone with Newcastle United losing this Saturday. Sunderland drew their game although even if they did win could displace Swansea City due to their poor goal difference. Swansea City do have a tough set of fixtures coming up with Spurs being their toughest test come the end of February away from home. They will have possibilities against West Bromwich Albion, Crystal Palace and Southampton however hard it maybe for the Welsh club.

My predictions for this Sunday lunchtimes game does favour that of Everton to win the game, because seriously can the two sides really draw a fourth game in a row? That said its always worth a punt do we could possibly go for that as an option at some point. My banker bet I am going for is for there to be two goals scored in the game, as I personally do not see this game providing us with too much entertainment in terms of goals.
