Crystal Palace v Sunderland Preview, Premiership, Monday 23rd November 2015

Crystal Palace head into this game having had an average start to their new season which has seen them win six, drawn one and lost five of their opening twelve matches played and currently occupy 10th position in the premiership league table.

A fine 2-1 victory away against Liverpool last time out will certainly have boosted the confidence of the players and with Liverpool having beat premiership league leaders Manchester City over the weekend 4-1 away from home the confidence will no doubt have risen even more and the hosts will definitely see this as a game they should win on Monday night.

Sunderland head into the game having had a very poor opening twelve matches of which they have won one, drawn three and lost eight and currently occupy 19th position in the premiership league table. The visitors have conceded an incredible twenty-six goals so far this season and have scored just thirteen and it does look as if Sunderland will once again be fighting for their lives in the following few months to stay in the english top flight league.

Crystal Palace Team News:

The hosts will continue to be without Dwight Gayle as he still receives treatment for a hamstring injury, but the new good news for Palace fans is that both Connor Wickham and Marouane Chamakh have now fully recovered from recent injury related problems and both are available for selection.

Sunderland Team News:

The visitors are almost at full strength as both Lee Cattermole and John O’Shea have not returned back to the squad having now fully recovered from respective injuries. Striker Steven Fletcher has scored three goals in four matches against Crystal Palace over recent season’s and is likely to spearhead the Sunderland attack up front.

Crystal Palace v Sunderland Head to Head Statistics:

Monday night’s game from Selhurst Park Stadium will become the 24th meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Crystal Palace have won 9 times overall, with 7 of those having come with home advantage. Sunderland have won 10 times overall, bust just 3 of those have come away from home.

The previous 5 meetings below in our head to head statistics table show Crystal Palace having a slight advantage over recent season’s having won 2 times compared to Sunderland having won just the 1 and the remaining 2 matches having finished all square..

49 Goals have been scored in the previous 23 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.13.

27 of those Goals have came in the 11 previous matches played at the Etihad Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of 2.46.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to indicate that this game should see a minimum of between two or three goals scored and betting markets like Total Match Goals 2 or 3 and Over 2.5 Goals look the mostly likely outcomes on the goals market betting.

Crystal Palace v Sunderland Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Not much between the two clubs on their recent form, but for me Palace do have the stronger squad and with home advantage and a fine 2-1 victory away against Liverpool last time out, I am expecting the hosts to come out of this game with all three points.

Sunderland look destined for relegation, but with the appointment of new manager Sam Allardyce, they do at least have a fighting chance of once again doing the impossible and staying up in the english top flight league.

However, wins are a must for that to happen and although they do have some good players in their squad, their defence conceded too many goals for me to see them having any real chance of winning this game.

As such my Banker Free Tip is going to be for Crystal Palace to Win this match as although their current odds available are slightly odds on, for me they have the players to get the job done whereas I don’t think Sunderland do.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be for Scott Dann to get his head on a corner or free-kick to open up the scoring for the hosts in this game and having scored the second goal against Liverpool last time out, he will be in confident mood of grabbing another against one of the worst defences in the league.
