Everton v Manchester City Preview, Premiership, Sunday 23rd August 2015

Everton have started their new season in good fashion by securing 4pts from their opening two games and their performance last weekend away against Southampton really has all the Everton players and fans in confident mood that their club could possibly obtain a top four finish this season and this result against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon will obviously go a long way in determining if this Everton squad can cope with the very best sides in the Premiership this season.

Manchester City were flawless in their 3-0 destruction of Chelsea last weekend and had it not been for some world class saves by stand in keeper Begovic, the score could of been even more ! That result will obviously have provided the players and their fans with a huge boost of what this new season holds and if they play anything like they did against Chelsea last week in this game, Everton will be in for a very difficult match indeed.

Everton Team News:

The hosts will probably start this game with the same starting eleven that beat Southampton 3-0 which means despite all the speculation surrounding the future of John Stones going to Chelsea he does look likely to play in this game.

Romelu Lukaku will lead the attack up front with Kone once again providing the support out wide after having impressed his manager in the opening two matches. Ross Barkley will sit in just behind the front two and act as the main playmaker and his future is looking really good especially from an England point of view and this should only provide him with even more confidence as the season progresses.

Manchester City Team News:

Thibaut Courtois will return in goal having served his one match suspension, but the visitors will be without Pablo Zabaleta as he picked up a knee injury that could see him out of action for at least a month. New signing Fabian Delph could be handed his first start since joining the club as he has now fully recovered from a pre-season hamstring injury. Fernando is also available having recovered from a groin problem.

Sergio Aguero should again start this game and lead the attack up front with support out wide coming from Jesus Navas and David Silva and Ya Ya Toure acting as the playmaker in behind.

Everton v Manchester City Head to Head Statistics:

Sunday afternoon’s match from Goodison Park will become the 161st meeting between the two clubs over the years. Everton have managed to secure 58 victories overall with 40 of these coming at Goodison Park.

Manchester City have managed to secure 61 victories with just 17 of these having came at Goodison Park and having started the season in tremendous fashion all the City players will be looking to put their bad record at Goodison Park over recent season’s behind them come Sunday evening.

Everton v Manchester City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

An interesting game and one that based on how both sides have started the season and the fact that Everton have enjoyed some good results at home against Manchester City in recent seasons the result of this match really could go either way.

However, after watching Manchester City completely destroy Chelsea last weekend, it really would take a performance of a life time from the Everton players to win this game in my opinion and at this early stage of the new season I just can’t see the Everton defence keeping City out for long.

Romelu Lukaku will probably nick one for the hosts, but with the City squad packed full with world class players, there really is only one outcome of this match for me and that is a Manchester City victory.

As such my Banker Free Tip prediction is going to be for Manchester City to Win as their current odds available do represent value on what we saw from them last weekend.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be for Sergio Aguero to continue where he left off last weekend and open the scoring for his side as for me, he is the best striker in the Premiership by a very long way and with Betfred offering up Double Delight and Hatrick Heaven on this match, he could turn out to be tremendous value in what looks like a game that should see its fair share of goals.
