Wolves v Crawley Town Preview, League 1, Friday 23rd August 2013

With the poor display in the Capital One Cup in the past Wolves have more recently found their form with the thumping of Gillingham at home scoring an impressive 4 goals and conceding none and then more recently a 2 – 1 win away from home against Bristol City with winger Bakary Sako getting on the score sheet twice in as many weeks. With back to back relegation’s to deal with new boss Kenny Jackett has a job on his hands as he looks to offload certain players who are no longer needed by the club and it doesn’t make it easier with transfer listed players refusing to play in the under 21 matches to keep fit and be on show for potential buyers.

Crawley Town have had mixed results so far this season with the worst being the early exit from the Capital One Cup to Cheltenham 4 – 3 in extra time. With other results being a complete mix it would of hurt the club to lose at home more recently to Rotherham who scored in the 76th minute by a David Worrall goal which secured all 3 points. It was a tough result to take after going ahead early in the 15th minute with a Mat Sadler goal which was scored by a beautiful left footed free kick that sailed into the top corner giving the keeper no chance. Rotherham pretty much dominated the match after they pulled one back 9 minutes before time and by the time the whistle had blown the away side should of scored many more resulting in a more convincing win, but Crawley Town fought hard to keep it a draw before conceding again 13 minutes from time.

Wolves v Crawley Town Team News

Wolves Team News:

Wolves have seen many people leave the club this summer be it on loan, end of career or a permanent transfer with that number totaling an impressive fifteen. With only two players being signed it is good news for the new boss having Leigh Griffiths return from 2 seasons on loan to Scottish club Hibernian where he has impressed and scored many goals for the club.

Crawley Town Team News:

Its been a year in charge now for Richard Barker and has so far this season signed 3 new players and also taking Luke Rooney on loan from Swindon Town, with not spending a penny so far the club has also seen 7 players leave the club on free transfers. In other news the Red Devils will be pleased to hear that defender Joe Walsh should be fit for Friday nights game against Wolves after sitting out of the weekends game to Rotherham due to his recent game in the Wales U-21’s midweek. With playing 90 minutes on Wednesday for his national side it was said that his hamstrings were quite tight come Thursday so was not risked for the weekends game.

Wolves v Crawley Town Head to Head Statistics

No fixtures between these two sides have taken place to our knowledge.

Who Has The Advantage?

Wolves should have the advantage here having had Premiership experience against a side who were only conference quality a few seasons ago, yet Crawley are known to shock big teams with beating Premiership new boys Crystal Palace 3 – 0 in pre-season.

Average Goals Per Game?

No goals have been scored against each other by these two sides but I would like to say we will see a few fly in on Friday night at the Molineux.

Its a tough call this one, you would think it would be an easy Wolves win but then Crawley Town do have it in them to also score goals. But for my prediction I am going for a 2 – 1 Wolves win and also the 2 – 2 draw as a 2nd.
