Real Madrid v Getafe Preview, Primera La Liga, Saturday 23rd May 2015.

It’s the last game of the season for this Real Madrid team, with them now out of the running in all competitions. The La Liga could of been theirs and it seems a little harsh to criticize them here as only two results could of ended different here. There was the loss against Barcelona back in March that would of sealed their fate as since then they have won all but the 2 – 2 draw against Valencia recently. Even in the Champions League they can’t be punished too much as the only one they could of done better in was the 2nd leg at home which ended one goal each, knocking the Spaniards out on aggregate. No doubt however though is that a change of manager will be on the cards, as it is rarely seen that Real Madrid bosses stick with a manager who fails to win one of the big competitions, even though he had won the Champions League and Copa del Rey the previous season.

Getafe once again avoided the relegation drop and luckily for them it wasn’t their own doing that kept them up after losing five and drawing their most recent. There were however only five points in it but at least they can head into this game knowing that the inevitable loss will not send them down to the second division. The club will finish either 14th or 15th in the table this season, although if they did miraculously win against Madrid, and Elche lost their game then a 13th placed finish would be theirs.

Real Madrid Team News:

Its good to see Sami Khedira (foot) back in training recently although I doubt he will start the game this Saturday. Daniel Carvajal (muscle) is out and with no news on his estimated return, while Luka Modric (knee) whould be back come the end of May. Sergio Ramos (calf) and Karim Benzema (thigh) are now both out for the remainder of the season. Coach Carlo Ancelotti watches from the stands due to a touchline suspension.

Getafe Team News:

Getafe have a number of players out due to injuries although they should see a few return very soon. Those returning to action soon are Angel Lafita (crucial ligaments), Alexis (virus), Emiliano Valazquel (hamstring) and Michel (groin). We then have Juan Valera (hamstring), Abdoul Karim Yoda (knee) and Alvaro Vazquez (shoulder) all out for the rest of the season. Roberto Lago is also unavailable due to picking up a red card against Rayo Vallecano.

Real Madrid v Getafe Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head encounters we can see as imagined that it is Real Madrid who are the most dominant with four easy big wins. Although alarmingly there has been a loss back in the 2012 season, even though it will worry Madrid very little, seeing as though their opponents have only beaten them once at home. In total we have 21 games recorded with Madrid winning 14 to Getafe’s 5, leaving us just a couple of draws.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 21 games played out between these two clubs there has been a total of 64 goals scored with 44 of them coming from Real Madrid. The goals per game game average is 3 per game which is very close when looking at the last five meetings. I feel the below option could be a good one for Saturdays game.

Real Madrid v Getafe Recent Form (Left to Right)

Real Madrid: W D D L W

Getafe: D L L L L

Even with the Champions League results torturing Real Madrid they are still the better team in form here. Where as Getafe have lost five of their last six games, leaving the most recent one with a draw. They are extremely lucky other results have helped them stay away from the relegation drop.

Real Madrid v Getafe Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Spanish Primera La Liga action on Saturday ends with Real Madrid taking on Getafe in what will be their final game of the season. The match can be seen live on Sky Sports 5 High Definition and should be an exciting game with plenty of goals, if the clubs head to head history is anything to go on. Both clubs have nothing else to play for this season, with Madrid recently being knocked out of the Champions League by Italian side Juventus who now face Barcelona in the competitions final in Germany.

Getafe have been in shocking form recently and before their recent draw had gone five games and losing each one. They avoided relegation by other clubs poor results below them which has now left them five points outside the drop zone, so even if/when they do lose this Saturday they are still completely safe. Real Madrid will be down in the dumps are they recently were knocked out of the Champions League to Juventus, and with Barcelona failing to slip up they have now lost the chase for the La Liga title.

My predictions for this game on Saturday will of course back Real Madrid to win with ease in both. I feel going for a correct score prediction could be dangerous, so plan to go for Real Madrid to win by a 4 or more goal lead instead. The next I am going for is Cristiano Ronaldo to score two or more goals on the night, which always has a solid chance of coming in.
