Norwich City v Tottenham Hotspur Preview, Premiership, Sunday 23rd February 2014

Tottenham Hotspurs head into this match on the back of a Europa League defeat and will look to restart their good form by bouncing back early against the home side Norwich City. They are only 1 – 0 down after losing in the 1st leg away in Ukraine on Thursday and will look to defeat Dnipro at White Hart Lane with enough goals to sale through into the next round. Tim Sherwood will see this game as a must win with Norwich only winning once in their last ten Premiership games.

A lot of news in this weeks media is about the potential sacking of Chris Hughton with a fair few names being bought forward to replace the man in charge. Norwich City have huge issues up front right now having only scored four goals in the last ten games with new signings Johan Elmander and Dutchman Ricky van Wolfswinkel only scoring a single goal between them.

Norwich City Team News:

The home side have a number of injury concerns which wouldn’t of aided in Chris Hughton’s fixture results. We are awaiting news on if Jonas Gutierrez (calf) and Jonny Howson (back) are available for selection and also see the possible return of Ryan Bennett after his recent injury. We also see two defenders missing in Michael Turner and Elliott Bennett.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News:

Tim Sherwood was missing a few players himself during the midweek Europa League clash but most of them are expected to return for the battle away from home to Norwich City on Sunday. We do see Sandro (calf), Jermain Defoe (hamstring), Erik Lamela and Vlad Chiriches (both back) all missing from action.

Norwich City v Tottenham Hotspur Head to Head Statistics:

Bizarrely enough its Norwich City who have won the war in the last 5 head to head statistics with 2 wins to Spur’s 1. In the total of 46 games played we do however see Tottenham Hotspurs come out on top with 19 wins to Norwich City’s 13. We also see 14 draws with half of them happening with Norwich City at home.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 46 games these two have played over the years we have seen a total of 126 goals which is giving us an average of 2.67 goals per game which is only a little more than the 2.4 goals per game average from the last 5 head to head statistics. So regarding those facts we should see at least a couple of goals on Sunday at Carrow Road.

Norwich City v Tottenham Hotspur Recent Form (Left to Right)

Norwich City: L D L D W

Tottenham Hotspur: L W W D L

Tottenham Hotspurs are the better team in form here with their last Premiership loss coming at the hands of Manchester City. Norwich City have only won once in their last ten Premiership games which is showing some terrible form right now for Chris Hughton’s men.

Norwich City v Tottenham Hotspur Match Betting Odds Market

Norwich City maybe at home for this match but with their recent poor form the bookmakers see them as unlikely winners on Sunday. With the best possible odds found here @ 3/1 with Totepool – Bet £5 and Get £10 Free when Registering a New Account!

The Draw will be a good option here if Norwich City do manage to play well at home and with that result happening twice in their last five head to heads it could well be on the cards again. The best potential odds are currently set here @ 5/2 with Bet365 (£200 Free Bets for New Customers)

Tottenham Hotspur are away from home on Sunday but are still seen as the favourites to come away with a win here. They may have lost midweek in the Europa League but they will be looking to bounce back with another Premiership win. Norwich City v Tottenham Hotspur Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

I personally am looking forward to this game on Sunday afternoon and look on and wonder if Chris Hughton can save his job and his teams chances of survival from the dreaded relegation drop. With only one point between them and Sunderland Norwich will need to start making the most of their home games and throw everything at getting some form of result be it a win or draw.

Tim Sherwood’s men will be looking towards repairing that hit to their confidence after losing 1 – 0 in their Europa League match during the week. A win here on Sunday will allow them to continue their good Premiership form and carry on putting the pressure on current 4th placed Liverpool. With Brenden Rodgers squad currently three points clear of Spurs the away side here must go all out and grab that much needed win if they want to qualify for the Champions League next year.

So lets get down to some predictions for Sundays game, I personally cannot see Tottenham Hotspurs losing this game especially as Norwich City can’t seem to score goals right now after only grabbing four goals in their last ten games. My first choice will be for Tottenham Hotspurs to win by any goals amount scored and for Norwich City to not hit the target and score a goal which is giving some nice odds right now. The other is for Tottenham Hotspurs to win and under 2.5 goals during the match on Sunday.
