Norwich City v Liverpool Preview, Premiership, Saturday 23rd January 2016.

It seems Norwich City couldn’t keep up the great start to 2016 after they beat Southampton at home 1 – 0 as they have since then lost three in a row to Manchester City, Stoke City and now Bournemouth. They have conceded three goals in each of these games and only managed to score the once which was away from home to Stoke. They now have a tough test against Liverpool who themselves are looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League. Another home game follows with Tottenham Hotspurs the visitors which is another game that seems very unlikely to earn points from, and if confidence is low then an away visit to Aston Villa may not also produce the result they are looking for. Norwich City are just two points above in form Newcastle United who themselves currently sit on eighteenth in the relegation zone.

Liverpool themselves have started to slip down the table again in recent weeks with them failing to win any games in the league this year. They did manage an epic 3 – 3 draw at home to league leaders Arsenal but then lost at home to another side struggling for goals, Manchester United. The FA Cup 3rd Round replay against Exeter City produced better results this time round with the game being played at Anfield in which we did eventually see Liverpool run out easy winners with a 3 – 0 victory. Liverpool should win on Saturday against Norwich City even though they are away from home before then then face Stoke City again in the second leg of the Capital One Cup semi final in which Liverpool currently lead 1 – 0 on aggregate. FA Cup 4th Round action after this against West Ham United who did beat Liverpool in the league at the start of this years fixtures.

Norwich City Team News:

Norwich City have made a few signings so far this January with Pinto, Klose and Naismith all adding to the ranks. Pinto could go straight in to replace current right back Martin, while Klose could also see Ryan Bennett on the bench. Norwich do see Gary O’Neil miss this game due to a suspension.

Liverpool Team News:

Liverpool have an injury list as long as a mans arm and none are back to aid in Klopps current crisis. Adam Lallana is a new addition to that list although does have a slight chance due to a small muscle pull. Coutinho, Lovren, Rossiter, Sturridge, Skrtel, Origi, Gomez and Ings all out.

Norwich City v Liverpool Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five games played we can see it is indeed Liverpool as expected who have pretty much dominated with four wins and a recent draw. In total we have 49 fixtures played out between the two clubs where Norwich City have only won on ten occasions. Liverpool have twenty six victories and thirteen draws with the last time Norwich City winning way back in 1994, with the last time at home a year earlier.

Either of the two sides are in decent form right now yet we should still see Liverpool come out on top even with the new additions seen at Norwich City. Norwich City are the only side to win in the league this year with Liverpools victory only coming at the hands on Exeter City in the FA Cup 3rd Round.

Norwich City v Liverpool Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premiership action this Saturday lunchtime can be viewed live on BT Sports 1 High Definition and is held at Carrow Road with Norwich City set to face Liverpool. Norwich City will be desperate for the win as a loss could see them in the relegation zone come the end of the day if Swansea City and Newcastle United manage to grab a positive result. Liverpool on the other hand will jump up into seventh ahead of Crystal Palace and Stoke City, yet that could change if Palace manage to beat Spurs and Stoke City pull off a win away from home against Leicester City.

Both teams are not in the best of form right now with only Norwich City managing a win this side of 2016 in the league. Norwich City will be happy with their win as it came at home against Southampton in the Premier League and is a win that has kept them out of the relegation zone coming up to this weekend. Liverpool have only managed to beat Stoke City in the Capital One Cup semi final as well as Exeter City in the FA Cup 3rd Round replay at Anfield. They are the favourites to beat Norwich City Saturday lunchtime and certainly need it if they want to seriously push for a top four finish come the end of the season.

Predictions for Saturday lunchtimes game are favouring that of Liverpool to win and i can’t help but jump on the bandwagon there. So for my banker prediction I think going for both teams to score and Liverpool to win could be a solid bet. If we look at the last five games played there has been a massive amount of goals scored excluding the last which ended 1 – 1. My next is going to be a long shot, but I just feel Norwich City could see a debut player scoring on the day, and I feel Steven Naismith will be the man rewarded with such.
