Monaco v Tottenham Hotspur Preview, UEFA Champions League, Group E, 22nd November 2016.

French club Monaco are enjoying their Ligue 1 experience currently with them sitting in second place. They currently trail Nice in 1st and only just sit behind with three points short. They are on joint points with Paris st Germain who to be honest I was expected to be leading the pack. Monaco are doing well in the Champions League having recently beaten CSKA Moskva 3 – 0 at home.

They have already beaten Tottenham Hotspurs in the competition when they traveled to face them away from home back in September. They have also done exceptionally well in their domestic league with them sitting where they are, yet have failed to capitalize on maximum points recently having only won three of their last five games played in that competition.

Tottenham Hotspurs are still the only club in the Premier League who have not lost all season, yet up until Saturday have experienced a bad run of form having drawn four and the win against Manchester City way back at the beginning of October. Saturdays late winner over West Ham United see the end of that drought and also see them close the gap on Arsenal to one point after they drew to Manchester United.

It’s a must win for Tottenham Hotspurs on Tuesday with them currently trailing in third in Group E. With four points adrift of Monaco it could make the group very interesting especially as Bayer Leverkusen are the favourites against CSKA Moskva. If the Bundesliga side win as expected, and Spurs manage a win in France then it could make the English club face better odds of qualifying for the next round.

Monaco Team News :

Monaco come into Tuesdays home encounter against Tottenham Hotspurs with a full fit squad, and I can only imagine the coach Leaonardo Jardim has tactical issues to think about with the likes of Harry Kane returning to action for the visitors.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News :

Tottenham Hotspurs have a number of injuries and flew out to France on Monday without the likes of Ben Davies, Erik Lamela and defender Toby Alderweireld who still nurse injuries. Apart from that it looks like striker Harry Kane has made a full recovery after being sent home from international duty, with him bagging himself a couple of goals against West Ham United on Saturday.

Monaco v Tottenham Hotspur Head to Head Statistics:

In the four games the two European clubs have played against each other we have only see Tottenham Hotspurs win once, and with the two drawing back in 2015 it leaves the home side Monaco with two wins. Before 2013 the two had never met, and in the last three years have played each other a lot considering.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the four games the two have battled out we have seen a total of seventeen goals scored. This is going to give us a goals per game average of 4.2 which is extremely high, and I am sure we can only hope more of the same from these two clubs come Tuesday night in Nice. I do feel however that the below option would be a better bet.

Monaco v Tottenham Hotspur Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Champions League action on Tuesday night we will see home side Monaco face Tottenham Hotspurs via BT Sports 2. It will of course be in high definition with the bookmakers favourites set as Monaco ever so slightly. The visitors are coming in close second to grab all three points and the win against West Ham United at the weekend may possibly of installed some much needed confidence.

Monaco are doing exceptionally well in the Champions League this season and although they are in second place in the French Ligue 1 their recent results there have only just improved. A win on Tuesday night will see them continue as the group leaders with Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen a close second. Leaving Spurs in third and CSKA Moskva at the bottom of the pile.

Tottenham Hotspurs have finally ended their run without a win since Manchester City in September and it came very late with a 90th minute Harry Kane penalty leaving the away crowd stunned. It leaves them just one point behind bitter rivals Arsenal after they themselves managed a late undeserved equalizer at Old Trafford against Manchester United.

My predictions for this game are leaning more towards a draw of some sort, although I do feel a number of goals could grace either net come Tuesday evening. For my banker I am going to go with both teams to score and draw the game, which I feel has a very good chance at coming in. My next will be for Monaco to win the game with a correct scoreline of 2 – 1 on the night.
