Monaco v Juventus Preview, Champions League,Wednesday 22nd April 2015

Monaco head into this game having lost the 1st leg last week at the Juventus Stadium 1-0 and the failure to score an important away goal could prove costly for the hosts who have not been in the best of form on the domestic front this season as their 1-1 draw at home against Rennes at the weekend just gone clearly shows.

Juventus will have been very happy of having kept Monaco from scoring in last week’s 1st leg match and having secured the victory courtesy of a 57min penalty that was calmly dispatched by Arturo Vidal on 57mins, the visitors will approach this game with confidence high and be fully aware that an early goal could be enough to see them progress through to the semi finals.

Monaco Team News:

Jeremy Toulalan and Geoffrey Kondogbia are both major doubts for this game for the hosts as they continue to receive treatment for respective injury related problems. Dimitar Berbatov could get the nod up front over exciting Anthony Marital if the manager decided to go with one attacking player, but expect the talented youngster to start alongside Berbatov if the manager decides to go with two players up front.

Juventus Team News:

Martin caceres and Paul Pogba are the only players missing for the visitors due to both still receiving treatment for respective injury related problems. The good news for Juve fans though is that their midfield maestro Andrea Pirlo is likely to start this game having came through 70mins against Lazio this weekend after missing nearly 5 weeks out with injury.

Monaco v Juventus Head to Head Statistics

Wednesday night’s game from the Stade Louis II will become only the 4th meeting between the two clubs over the years. Juventus have won 2 games and Monaco have won just the 1 game, so the Italian side seem to be the ones with the slight advantage in this game taking place on Wednesday night.

Both sets of data above seem to suggest that we should see at least a few goals grace the back of the nets during this game.

Monaco v Juventus Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Monaco are probably not one of the teams that many people would have predicted to make it to this stage of the tournament and we only need look at their domestic form to see that they have been rather fortunate to be one of the sides still left in this tournament.

Juventus however, have dominated proceedings in their domestic league and again look almost certain to secure an impressive 4 league titles in succession and for me they look better in pretty much every position on the pitch than their hosts.

The 1st leg was quite a tight affair with both sides being very cautious through out most of the 90mins played, but Juventus showed their class by winning the game 1-0 and although a draw would see them qualify through to the semi final stage, I am expecting them to kill this game off early and go straight at Monaco from the get go in this game.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker selection is going to be Juventus to Win the match as I fully expect them to score in this match and that should see Monaco having to throw caution to the wind and attack in large numbers in order to try and get back into the tie, this should then leave the space in behind the midfield for the visitors to win this game in comfortable fashion.

My Saver is going to be for Carlos Tevez to Score 2 or More Goals as with the Argentinian striker having scored an impressive 18 times already this season, he looks a good choice to secure the victory for his side and send Monaco crashing out of the tournament.
