Liverpool v Manchester United Preview, Premiership, Sunday 22nd March 2015

Liverpool are strong contenders to secure a Champions League place for next season after some good results in recent months and with another 3pts picked up last weekend in a 1-0 win away against Swansea City, things at Liverpool football club are certainly looking up.

Manchester United are also main contenders for a Champions League place for next season as like Liverpool, they also have been in excellent form over the last couple of months and a convincing 3-0 victory at home against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend keeps them in 4th position of the league table and just 2pts behind second place Manchester City.

Liverpool Team News:

Ibe, Flanagan, José Enrique and Bradley Jones are all unavailable for the hosts as each player continues to receive treatment for respective injury related problems. Daniel Sturridge will lead the attack up front with support from Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho.

Manchester United Team News:

Robin Van Persie continues to receive treatment for an ankle problem and remains unavailable. Rojo, Luke Shaw and James Wilson are all carrying minor knocks and will under take a late fitness test to see if any of them can be selected for this game. Wayne Rooney will lead the attack up front with support being provided by Ashley Young, Angel di Maria and Marouane Fellaini.

Liverpool v Manchester United Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

On the base of it both of these sides have very valid chances of winning this game on Sunday afternoon as both head into this game on the back of a victory and both have been in very good form over the last couple of months, so deciding on a clear winner is going to be quite difficult indeed.

If we look at the overall head to head statistics it does show that Manchester United have a significant advantage over Liverpool as they have managed to win ten games more, but if we take a closer look at the record when the two teams have met each other at Anfield the advantage changes to Liverpool as they have managed to win 15 times more than Manchester United.

Also, Liverpool do seem to be in the slightly better form of late with their only defeat in twelve games coming in the Europe League when they lost the penatly shoot-out against Besiktas and with Daniel Sturridge now back and firing on all cylinders, the Manchester United defence is going to be in for a very difficult afternoon.

The average goals per game statistics are suggesting we should see between two or three goals scored in this game and if we have a look at past score-lines in this fixture at Anfield Stadium we have seen this happen in three of the last six meetings.

Having weighed everything up and taken into consideration all of the statistics available, my Banker prediction for this game is going to be for Both Teams to Score & Liverpool to Win as with home advantage I think they will prevail and pick up the important 3pts when all is said and done.

My Saver is going to be for the game to finish 2-2 as we have not had a draw in this fixture for a very long time and with both clubs currently in good form, it certainly wouldn’t surprise me to see this game finish all square as both would probably be happy enough to take a point from this one.
