Hull City v Chelsea Preview, Premiership, Sunday 22nd March 2015.

It has been a better couple of months for struggling side Hull City with them winning a couple of league games against Queens Park Rangers and Aston Villa. They have only lost the once which was against Mark Hughes side Stoke City and then of course have drawn their last two fixtures against Sunderland and Leicester City, two results that really should of been wins considering the talent between the clubs. They host Premier League leaders Chelsea on Sunday and a loss, which is expected, could send them back down into the danger zone with them only three points away from a relegation position. They have a couple of tough games coming up against the likes of Liverpool and Southampton, yet could potentially grab a result or two against Swansea City and Crystal Palace if things go well.

Jose Mourinho has not been happy recently after seeing his side find exit out of the Champions League to PSG recently. They were four minutes away from victory only for ex Chelsea defender David Luiz to ruin the night with a bullet header which took the two clubs into extra time. Eden Hazard took Chelsea back in front with a penalty kick only for Thiago Silva to again equalize and winning the game due to the away goal ruling. PSG were down to ten men after half hour and really should of been punished by the English club, yet Chelsea really didn’t seem to want the win and that eventually was their downfall come the end of the night. In the Premier League things are still going reasonably well with two wins and a couple of draws.

Hull City Team News:

Steve Bruce’s side are a number of players down right now with them having five players out injured. Diame (knee), Chester (dislocated shoulder), Rosenior (hamstring), Brady (calf) and Rob Snodgrass (knee) are all unavailable for selection, and then we also have Tom Huddlestone out due to being suspended, after being red carded against Leicester City.

Chelsea Team News:

Chelsea are still without midfielder John Obi Mikel who is still suffering with a knee injury, yet Jose Mourinho will not be too worried as he has plenty of cover for the Nigerian. Diego Costa is still the Premier Leagues top goalscorer so far this season with eighteen goals scored, his last was against Southampton in the 1 – 1 draw at The Bridge.

Hull City v Chelsea Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head encounters we have seen Chelsea dominate with four wins and a single draw back in 2010. Sadly we only have eight games recorded between these two clubs in which Hull City have won zero. Chelsea have won six overall while leaving the last two to low scoring draws.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the eight games played that we have recorded between the two Premiership clubs, we have seen a total of 18 goals scored with 16 of them being scored by the current league leaders Chelsea. This will give us a goals per game average of 2.25 which looks spot on when looking at the above table. However with how Chelsea are playing and also how Hull City are struggling could we potentially see more come Sunday?

Hull City: D D L W W

Chelsea: D D W W D

The bizarre thing here is that on paper we only see Chelsea as the better team in form by that extra draw they earned recently. Yet we must also take into consideration the position of both clubs here. Chelsea on top of the table and favourites for the title, while Hull City are fighting close to the bottom and could potentially face relegation if things do not improve.

Hull City v Chelsea Match Betting Odds Market

Hull City are at home and as expected still not even close to being considered as the favourites for the win come Sunday. With them struggling close to the bottom they would be lucky to hold out for a draw here. The Draw I feel is the best Hull City could hope for, and lets face it they have a good chance considering the way Chelsea have been dropping points lately. The best odds on the draw found here @ 7/2 with Bet365 – Receive £200 Matched Bets when You Register a New Account

Chelsea are seen as the clear and solid favourites to win on Sunday and it comes as no surprise when looking at the gap between the two clubs in the table. The best odds on that away win found here @ 1/2 with Betfred – Bet £10 Get £30 Free Bets for New Registering Accounts

Hull City v Chelsea Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Premiership action on Sunday is coming to us live on Sky Sports 1 High Definition and features home side Hull City verses the Premiership league leaders Chelsea. We have seen Jose Mourinho’s side knocked out of the Champions League recently when they drew against French side PSG and went out on the away goal ruling. We have also seen them drop points to Southampton as well as relegation battling side Burnley. So Hull City should take into accounts the positives and do all they can to take advantage of that.

Hull City have improved in their last five Premiership games having won and drawn twice as well as a single loss against Stoke City. Yet can they actually beat the Premier League leaders Chelsea? I highly doubt it myself and feel the best Steve Bruce could hope for is a draw. Jose Mourinho will be keen to get back to winning ways against Hull City and I can only imagine him explaining this just how he does with him demanding the utmost best from his side.

My predictions for Sundays game between home side Hull City and Chelsea does in fact back Chelsea to win as I personally do not feel this Hull City side have what it takes to win or draw even with them being at home. So for the first I am going to go for an Eden Hazard to score and for Chelsea to win. The second prediction will be for Chelsea to win the game 3 – 0 on the day which is a result not seen in their last five head to head battles.
