Everton v Leicester City Preview, Premiership, Sunday 22nd February 2015

Everton head into this match on the back of thumping Young Boys in their midweek Europa League clash, Everton looked better than they have all season long and I think they could be on course for consecutive victories if they aren’t too fatigued from playing on a Thursday. The Toffees currently sit 12th in the table and will have to go on an impressive win streak if they’re to finish in the Europa League places.

Leicester City are in big trouble at the bottom of the Premier League, they are 5 points away from 17th place QPR but have lost their last four matches on the bounce. Despite playing good football, Nigel Pearson’s team always seem to struggle in defensively. With a trip to the Etihad to face the current champions after this difficult visit to Goodison Park it makes you wonder if and when Leicester are going to get some more points on the board.

Everton Team News:

Manager Roberto Martinez has four players absent from his side for this home match, Tony Hibbert is out with a muscular injury whilst Aiden McGeady and Steven Pienaar are both out with knee injuries. Leon Osman is out with a foot injury and will return on the 1st of March.

Leicester City Team News:

Manager Nigel Pearson will be without his first choice goalkeeper for this game. Kasper Schmeichel has a metartarsal fracture and it is unknown when he will return to the side.

Everton vs Leicester City Head to Head Statistics:

Sunday’s game from Goodison Park will become the 93rd encounter between these two teams. Everton have won 34, losing 29 to Leicester with the remaining 29 games ending all square. At home Everton have a better record, winning 23 from 46, drawing 14 and losing just 9.

19/12/03 BPL Everton vs Leicester City 3 : 2
12/04/02 BPL Everton vs Leicester City 2 : 2

As we can see in the table above, these two sides are odd as even in recent matches, each side have a victory each in the last 5 clashes with the other three ending in scored draws which is quite remarkable.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the previous 92 meetings between these two teams there has been a total of 313 goals scored which provides us with an average of 3.4 goals per game.

In the 46 previous meetings at Goodison Park there has been a total of 161 goals which generates an average of 3.5 goals per game. Both of these statistics suggest that we will see over 2.5 goals in this encounter.

Everton vs Leicester City Recent Form (Left to Right)

Everton: W L D W D

Leicester City: L L L L W

It is clear to see that both sides haven’t been in great form in their last 5 matches and therefore we have to say Everton look the more likely of the two sides as Leicester have lost their last four matches in a row.

Recent Form Stats Pick: Everton to win @ 5/6 with Ladbrokes – £25 Free Bets for New Customers.

Everton vs Leicester City Match Betting Odds Market

Everton are at home on Sunday Afternoon and I think that will give them a lot of encouragement to go and get the win along with their fantastic performance in Europe in midweek. I expect Lukaku to be the one causing Leicester problems. Ladbrokes offer the best price for Everton to win @ 5/6 – £25 Free Bets for New Customers.

The Draw is a more probable result that the unlikely away win, Everton have failed to score in 6 of their last 9 Premier League matches so a 0-0 could be on the cards but I think the Toffees will come out on top. Coral offer the best value for the draw @ 11/4 – Deposit £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets for New Customers.

Leicester City travel to Goodison Park in terrible form and I cannot foresee them winning this game, I imagine Leicester will score a single goal as they have done in 3 of their last 4 matches but I don’t think it will be enough to get them all three points. PaddyPower provide the best odds for Leicester to win @ 4/1 – £50 Free Bets for New Customers.

Everton vs Leicester City Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Everton played excellent in midweek and will be keen to get another win under their belt, I think the home team will get all three points but I expect them to be pushed to the wire. I think Everton will score through Romelu Lukaku at least once.

Leicester have nothing to lose as they are already bottom of the table so I expect them to go for it in this game and although I think they will be rewarded with a goal I think they will concede at least twice which is why I foresee Everton winning.

My Banker for this game is going to be Everton race to 2 goals as I expect them to start the better of the two sides and look to punish Leicester’s poor defense.

My Saver is going to be a correct score of Everton to win 3-1.
